Hey Everyone,
This will be my first WIP thread for my first set of armor. Just so everyone knows I dont have a finish date, I'm just gonna work at it as I have time and money, and the know how. I want this set of Armour to last and look good so as such I will be taking my time as to do it right!! Any help is always appreciated. Everyone on this site has been very helpful and nice, and if I can help out anyone else along the way I will do my best to do so.
That said, lets have a look at what I've got done so far and tell you what I have planned for the rest!
Started on noble 6's helmet first. I am doing the "Mk.V (Mark V B Variant by jtm1997 - mkshane81" as this one is the on I liked most of all the other noble 6's pep helmets. However it does seem to be the HD version and being my first pep its definately a challenge. I hate the little pieces I need to fold with tweezers!! lol
P.S. this is really my first time using (not reading) forums so if I have some technical issues bear with me!
Started with the top of the helmet
here is another pic
the detail on front of brim
working my way down the helmet
Left Ear
added some of the back
Right Ear piece added
Visor with some detail
So thats where I've got to.
I'm almost done the helmet and have been doing research on how to resin and fiberglass. As I live in a climate that is starting to get too cold to use Bondo resin outside(Kingston, Ontario, Canada). I think that I am going to be going with the aqua resin method as I have no garage or and place to resin that is well enough ventilated. I have some questions about it to anyone who has used it before:
1. Can you use regular fiberglass cloth with it or do you need to buy the Aqua Vail?
2. Do/Should you seal you pep before applying the Aqua resin?
I have read Skullcany Girl's thread where she is testing the Aqua resin and people in that thread were saying you can make a bondo replacement with more powder added to the mix. I think it was a ratio of 5:1 Powder to liquid.
So question 3 is: Can I do a 5:1 ratio or is there a thickiner that you can buy that works better?
4. This is a question for anyone that buys their aqua resin from Sculpture Supply Canada in toronto. Do you need to call ahead and have them hold some or do they have a steady supply, as I will be in toronto this weekend and would like to pick-up some?
Anyways, I hope to be getting the helmet done in the next 2 weeks max. Any help or suggestions are always appreciated. Lemme know what you think.
Thanks,
RangedAssassin
EDIT: Just noticed but sorry for the messy office pics!!! LOL
