Finalised fabric concepts are now complete.

After work I plan to begin creating the undersuit from the feet up.
I will be using 5 different fabrics to create it.
The current plan is to have the undersuit as one piece, but when I have worked my way up to the torso I will work out the best locations for zips.

EDIT [Again]:

Both soles complete.
If your wondering how I am going to be making the shoe part of the undersuit, I plan to have 2 sole pieces for each foot.
The carved one will be on the outside of the fabric, and will be connected to the inner sole by 3 bolts [where the thong straps normally are].
The fabric will run between the 2 sole pieces and be held in place by the bolts.
This should make the boots pretty durable and also replace able if need be.

Got the day off tomorrow, so I will be working on it pretty much all day.

Wow O.O! I'm blown away by not only how it looks, great foam work. But also by your referencing and just the dedication to this build is awesome!

Looking forward to seeing this progress looking good so far.

Basically a curtain fabric store.

Slow progress, but none the less progress.

I didn't like how boot attempt no. 1 was turning out, so I decided to start again.
I feel it looks alot better with attempt no. 2

Now I have 1 boot basically finished.
Onto boot 2...

And then there was 2.
Technically this is my 1st ever built pair of shoes, minus the Halo 4 suit thongs.
I took them for a test run, and they work just like runners... halo runners

Now to begin working my way up the legs...

EDIT:

Small progress after work tonight.
1st time using the hexagon like pattern. I think its going to work well.
Only downside is that most of the leg part of the undersuit won't be visible with the armour on... then again I could always go as a non-armoured spartan

The undersuit begins to crawl up my legs

If you have been wondering what my progress to build this is, I follow a few simple steps [only downside each step takes a while]

Step 1: Free-hand pattern using undersuit sketch concepts as my reference.
Step 2: Create my templates.
Step 3: Cut out fabric and foam pieces for each template [x2]
Step 4: Iron each piece.
Step 5: Glue fabric to foam.
Step 6: Sew together.

This is my progress from today, and I mean ALL day.
Its a shame I couldn't get more done today, but unfortunately it takes alot of time to make.

BUT there is always tomorrow

Not the update I wanted to post tonight, but alas I ran out of sewing thread just before finishing the undersuit up to the waist.
To assist with movement while wearing this I have put elastic between pieces at the back of the leg.
I plan to attach elastic between the boot / lower leg area to also assist in movement, but at the same time make it easier to take the undersuit on / off [foot wise].

One leg complete, second almost done.
My not be the best looking at some spots but I'm happy with how it turned out. Movement is also pretty good.
To get it on I had to add a small zip at the bottom to allow my ankle through.
Not sure how I will attach it to the boots, but I will leave that for now.

I am hoping it will work out well when done.

Both legs are finally complete, my hands are so sore. [Damn hand sewing] A little tight atm but I am sure after a little while they will get better. The main issue will most likely be overheating in them... Will have to work something out later. For now more pictures

Boots aren't connected yet, will most likely use zips / velco...

Next up the waist...

I made the spine area have elastic between the pieces to allow for easier movement.

Starting to work on the waist sides.
Got the rest of the day to work on this so hoping to get a bit done

IT FITS!!!
Waist area of undersuit is now complete.
All that is left to do with this bit is add the El wires and front zips.
These will be done at the end though.

That's a killer undersuit, and if the armour is up to par, then this is going to be a killer final product

I just hope it will all work out in the end.
Compared to the undersuit the armour is going to be really easy.
As for being neat, the state of my room is lets just say 'really untidy'...

Update time:
Been working on the torso today, and this was as far as I got.
Just got to add the zips, do the 2 small cylinder bits, and fix up the neck area.

Zips attached, and happy to say it fits and is pretty comfortable.
Just need to make the neck area more flexible and add 2 waist bits.
Having this piece basically done takes a huge weight off my chest. Basically the hardest / most time consuming part is done.

Ok I just test fitted having everything on at once... its accurately comfortable and not that hot to wear. I just need to add elastic on the knee joint, and fix the neck. Turns out I won't need to attach the shoes to the legs too, they work fine as is. The only bits left now is the butt area and the arms, and of course the armour on top. Downside the helmet is still a little to large so will have to adjust that too. Also tested taking the lightrifle from off my back and will be able to actually do it [i think] um anything else not sure as of now lol

The under suit is amazing! especially since you are just looking at basic reference pictures and are designing your own templates! I really hope you get this done the way you want it to be!

Fingers are crossed

So today has been a good day.
All current issues with the undersuit have been resolved.

Undersuit boots: Finalised and ready for overlaying armour.
Undersuit legs: Added elastic between the knee joint to allow for more flexibility
Undersuit torso: Neck area made more flexible by removing some of the interior foam.

Last but not least construction on the undersuit arms has begun.

I have begun by creating my gloves by using some women's leggings...
