As mentioned elsewhere, we are very excited to be managing this community! We think it has a tremendous amount of potential and want to see it grow and flourish, but we need YOUR help to do that! This thread is for posting your thoughts and ideas about 1) existing changes as they are made and 2) changes you would like to see made.

Please bear in mind that there is only a handful of us and 10s of thousands of you, so we may not respond to every post or comment on every idea but we WILL read and consider every idea, comment and even criticism. Some things we should be able to implement quickly and easily while others may take time or not be feasible at all. Be patient with us as we already have a tremendous backlog of things that need to be done, but one-by-one, we will get to them.

I fully agree with this. Create a Mountain and Southwest Fact-Finding Thread in the Regiment Forum, and ask people to post if they live there and which conventions they are considering going to.

As for guessing where people are most likely to go for cons, it isn't always proximity. For me, I'm in Arizona, so close to southern California. But I'm not interested in shelling out the money for a hotel and tickets to something as big as Comicon or PAX. I would rather drive a little further and attend RTX, which is lower scale, so the Halo fans and presenters are a larger percentage of the presence. This is why I suggest asking in the fact-finding thread for people to post their location as well as msot likely con.

I'm not saying that the Pacific Regiment should be split up, but there are a large concentration of conventions in the Southwestern part of California (Los Angeles and San Diego) and then there are the large number of conventions that occur in Seattle Washington.

This is actually something we've looked at a couple of time as we've noted it also. The biggest likelihood is we will at some point break down into separate "battalions" or some other agreed upon sub-unit. However, until we get the rest of the costuming group stuff organized, this is being tabled for now as it's a bit ahead of us.

I'll pop in a bit later with more info and thoughts on regiment forming. What I am fairly certain of is that regiments will be formed when there is enough people asking for a region to warrant creating one. As far as I'm aware, there is a reluctance to try and tell people which group they should associate themselves with.

I actually sat down with a few Spartans last night and we wanted to know if it would be okay to create a southeastern regiment facebook page to recruit and start establishing our regiment. Please let us know if this okay so we could proceed.

thank you for the hard-work you guys put into this :)

Art Andrews would be the one to give the okay on this. Do you happen to have someone designated as the "lead" or point of contact for the SE area?

@AugmentedHuman013 has been working on trying to get things together for a Southern Regiment which would likely cover AL, FL, GA, KY, MS, NC, SC, TN, VA, and WV. Please get with him and coordinate your efforts. If you are going to create a FB page please use the following naming: "405th Southern Halo Costuming Regiment" and please make sure to add me ("Andrews Art" on Facebook) as an administrator.

Oi. Do I get a Librarian tag under my name since I'm working in tandem with Rundown to get the file archive working? c:

Because I'll totally be sad if I don't :c

Also, cool to know there's a South-side Regiment in the works c:

Absolutely fantastic work! Thank you and yes, as you have time and desire, by all means, please continue! Thank you again for your service to the community.

I took the liberty of going through the thread that has links to all the Elite threads* and documenting the state of them; broken forum code, picture links to nowhere, etc. If this is something that you'd like to see continued, I could go through the sticky threads and have a brief summary of their state.

I do not envy you that task. That said: that might be the perfect opportunity to start putting together a list of Sticky Threads that potentially can be merged or re-written and consolidated.

If it starts getting too big for you, give me a shout. I'd be more than happy to share the load.

These are the Halo Costumes and Armor stickies. I was a little more awake going through these, so my descriptions are a bit better :D

I think a good first step would be to parse what still functions, delete what doesn't. With whats left, if there's two "how to pep" guides, use the one that's better/more relevant or create new stickies combining the best parts of both (and crediting the original authors for having created them in the first place).

My friend Marves2142 did a great writeup in the Australian Regiment, might be worth adding that to your list! Posted recently, so no worrying about whether it's dead or not.

My thoughts exactly - currently a lot of the Stickies we have are for minor things that could have been added to a more comprehensive tutorial to save on space and time.

Getting a dedicated team on board to re-write these threads might be a thought - it's a LOT of work.

I have to ask, did you make sure to go through every page?

I found some threads that were missing images/attachments early on, but mid-thread there were some pictures.

For instance, Blue Realm's thread, while 90% of the picture links are dead, there is still 1 post in the entire thread that does still have pictures.
It might only be 1 post, but it is important to make note of.

For Youtube videos, we could (if we had the power) easily trim off the no longer functioning html code and the videos should work. While some videos might've been taken down or removed, I know a lot of the links still work even though you can't click them.

EDIT: Also, I'm sure that some of us here might like to save pictures that others post to serve as reference for inspiration on their own builds. I'm guilty of it, but I'm not sure if I have any pictures from threads that have lost their images; however, I'm sure that there might be others on here that might still have those pictures.

I think it might be a good idea Art Andrews to start a thread asking if anyone happens to have DL'd photos from others that they should post them. What do you think?

Personally, if we have the opportunity to fix some threads by adding pictures back into them I think we should.

Take Bluerealm Studios for example, they had phenomenal work that they showed off here; I'm sure that for them and other really popular builds back in the day that someone has some of those pictures somewhere saved to their computers.

Still somewhat on that same topic...

Now, naming conventions of files can make things hard to sort out at times. While we might all upload pics of ancient threads, we might not know who they belong to.

Which brings me to asking this:

Is there any chance that you Art Andrews) could make it so that our Username gets appended at the beginning (or end) of each file name for the ones that we upload here?

So instead of someone downloading:
"DCM-Image1"
or
"249427_1956719350010_1003513539_32276116_8095128_n"
we would instead download:

Well, I decided to try and come up with essentially a shopping list for all things relating to foam, and I also have been working on adding all the awesome foam crafting tips I've stumbled upon to it, but I find that it is one of those things that needs the input of others in order to complete the guide.
Unfortunately, I'm not seeing as many responses as I would have hoped.

But I am trying to basically turn it into a comprehensive Tutorial/Guide for everything Foam! :)

I was also hoping it could serve as a thread where people could post sales that are currently going on when they see them. Having a thread dedicated to knowing when things go on sale would be pretty awesome.

We have the ability to merge threads if needed. If you want a thread merged into another, just report both threads to the staff using the report button. Keep in mind, when we merge a thread, we do not have control of the order of the posts, they will be ordered by post date, regardless of which thread they were previously in. You may find it easier just to pull information from the old threads and create a new one.

If you guys find common code that is not functioning, please let us know.

1) We'd like a list of it.
2) We can SOMETIMES do something about it on the backend that will correct it.
3) If we could ever find an extremely competent db admin, we could correct all of them.

Don't wait on me. I think it is a worthy effort. Post it up and see what you get!
