How to make snaps work?

I just brought some heavy duty snap fasteners from Michaels, all in separate pieces, but I have no idea how to use or install them.
Someone posted a tutorial, but I didn't get it at all. Right now, my stupidity is unreal for me to stand it.

Can someone get me a tutorial for the dumbest of dummies?

Also, please make the terms painfully clear. That's a big part of me not understanding and where my stupidity originates.

theres a lot of different kinds of snaps out there so it would help if you posted up a picture of the snaps you got. but heres a video that might help you

The description and installation instructions start in that video at 3:30. I wish he showed exactly how the two halves crimp together, rather than "there's a good side and bad side, you'll see" but I'm sure it's obvious in practice.Other than that, it's a genius idea. All I've seen before is a whole lot of hot glued nylon webbing. This is much more robust and pro-looking.
