Sorry guys haven't updated in a while...my phone broke so I had to resort to using my old phone for pictures...the quality may not be as good but it'll work. So far I've put together the left thigh, the left bicep, both knee guards, both wrist guards (both may have to be redone, they look a little small), both shins, both shoulders, and I'm halfway done with the chest piece. Here are some progress pics so far. I've come to find that taking your time with foam builds (as I rushed my last one) allows you to better decide the angles to cut the foam and results in an overall better looking piece.
I also decided not to take the shortcut method by piecing together multiple stencils so you get one large piece. I have found this has made the pieces more accurate and not so warped. However, I think I may have to redo the thigh piece, I feel that larger pieces result in less joints which results in less places for the piece to become undone. I haven't decided for sure yet, but it would also help in helping me adjust the size as it fits just a tad too tight. The height of the thigh is perfect, so some minor adjustments will be added and then a final decision on whether I want to scrap it and start over will be made.
Alright, that's enough of me talking, here are the pics!
here is what I was talking about with the "joints" in the thigh file. In my last build, I just put all the templates in this area together and marked off where the other foam pieces were gonna go. Might go with that method...
had to make this adjustment to the bicep piece. Same problem where the height is perfect but the width of the piece is just a tad tight. Still trying to figure out how i'm going to do this with the thigh file, as there are no flat faces on the file like the bicep piece. If anything, it would probably be somewhere on the inside of the leg as that is the most hidden and least exposed.
That's all for now...stay tuned for more! Gonna try and finish the chest piece tonight.
