Hey guys I was wondering...what would be the "easiest/quickest" character to do? Whether it be ODST or spartan, I don't mind. I'm also looking for a costume with the least amount of Armour pieces in it, for example the Halo 4 Oceanic spartan doesn't seem to have lots of armour=good!

1) What's wrong with that? Veronica Dare's a badass.

2) At least within the Halo community (likely the only people who know who Dare is), people understand that armour permutations and specialisms are generally standardised, and don't necessarily conform to a single character. It'd be pretty obvious when you don't have "DARE" written across your nameplate, anyway.

If you really want minimal armor, look into a Halo 3 marine. They wear a helmet, torso piece, shin guards and a few misc. plates here and there, over an ABU camo uniform. The patterns available are pretty simple as well.

Hey im definitely not denying the fact that she is a badass :D And thats a good point, not a lot of people will know who Dare is and i definitely wont have a big "Dare" on my nameplate.

Im also looking for a, well im not sure if this is the correct term but "covered face" character. Would the H3 pilot marine work?

All you would ahve to do to not be associated with DARE is to use the male versions of the chest and ab plate. Dare used the female versions. Other then that the only differences in her armor from a regular ODST is that she did not have shoulder puldrons, she wears a backpack, and she uses the recon helmet. I am sure that there is actually a full recon armor pep files out there. IF you dont want to do Recon, go the Male ODST. It is fairly simple.

Yeah i may just go with a regular ODST, just without a backpack. BTW ive always wondered this but in H3 is the red upper-armed ODST different from the white? is the red ODST a sargeant and the white a private?

Absolutely. Halo 3 pilots (and Halo CE Anniversary pilots for that matter) wear the same uniform/armor as a marine, with the exception of a full helmet.

Great! Is there somewhere I could find the marine pants and shirt/whatever they where under their armour?
Oh and are ODST's quite "simple"? Would it be an ok first time costume? Most of all are they cheap to build?

If You know how to cut and glue everythink together you can make MAster Chief...First time is long and boring...but next time you remember all parts so it is going very fast

Most people who build a H3 marine use the Army Cut Uniform Universal Camo Pattern (commonly referred to as ACU). While this looks ok, and is a cheap uniform to find, if you take a closer look a the camo pattern on a marine's uniform from Halo 3, you'll notice that it's not the digital pattern found in ACU, but more of a geometric or tiger stripe pattern that closer resembles the Airman Battle Uniform (ABU) pattern used in the Air Force. ABU pants and shirts can be found on eBay for a pretty good price.

So, essentially, if you build a Halo 3 marine pilot, this is what you'll be aiming for...

Even the black drop leg panels can be found on eBay (search for "drop leg molle black" and you'll find something that looks similar).

The only real challenge to this build would be the chest plate. I had neglected to mention that earlier; but it might require a bit of scratch building, or you could simply use a standard marine chest plate.

As an added bonus to this, you'd have a relatively unique outfit. I've only ever seen one or two marine pilot builds in my years here.

On to your second question, "are ODSTs simple?" I would say yes and no. While they are not nearly as complicated as building a spartan suit, they still wear a lot of armor; armor that needs to be scaled correctly and strapped sufficiently. So, building ODST armor can still be a challenge.

I've always loved the marine pilots, I don't know why...I just have I think because they are quite unique. What would you suggest? First time build should I go ACU or ABU? I think I'll just use a marine chestplate, are they easy to buy? And if so are they cheap? I'd have to say ODST's are probs my second favourite after Spartans (UNSC side of things) it's just a shame they seem quite "tricky" to say at the least. I'd also like to say I really appreciate all you guys helping me, especially you Carpathia because you've been here from the real beginning of my first thread (this)!

If it were me, I'd go with ABU. If you search for "ABU shirt" and "ABU pants" on eBay, you'll get tons of affordable results.

The marine armor and pilot helmet pepakura files can be found in the file archive.

Good luck, and share what you do with us!

Hell yeah! I'll be posting up pics when I'm getting some progress. Now what weapon should I have, a pistol or an assault rifle? I'm just thinking I would probably prefer an assault rifle plus it's more recognisable but what do you think?
And I almost forgot, what about the shoulder armour? Is there much for those and do the marine and the pilot have the same shoulder armour?

Would these be alright?

Ok in another thread I've got someone who dedinitely knows what he is talking about and he is saying to do EVA foam for this armour, what do you think?

Eva Foam tends to be easier to work with in many ways, and you can get amazing detail with it, if you take the time to do so. Some keys is sharp blades, patience, and thinking through your cuts.

Yeah the only thing is (I don't know why) i always think foam bud are flimsy! Again I don't know why!
