Hey guys, I have been a member of the 405th for some time now but have never really posted much of my own projects. I was building a Fiberglass and resin Mark VI, this model of mjolnir was chosen because I like the overall look of it opposed to newer versions. But I grew impatient with this and started a new Foam build. Having Never used EVA Foam Before I was a little worried on the results however since starting this project I have found it more funnerer then the fiberglass and way easier to produce detail and fix issues. I have a helmet already completed in fiberglass and resins so I will throw in some shots of this too, but I have most of the chest done in EVA, bar a few details, undercoat and paint. I've decided not to follow any particular details with this build but create my own design, however as I prefer the Halo 2 and 3 Version, the MK VI I believe, over the Halo 4 suit, I've based my.... well.... base off of this design, adding in a mix of my own details with some from the original armor from all of the games. I do apologize for some parts missing as I did not intend to create a thread on this build so I've missed some photos of different stages throughout the build. but I have a good number to show progress.

Fiberglass Helmet (Completed a long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.) I will be rebuilding this in EVA to match the rest of the suit, with more detail and just make it better over all :)

PS' if anyone has the Halo 4 version of the MK VI helmet in Pep files or foam, it would be much appreciated if you could post the link or direct me to it. the chest piece was done from scratch without templates, Im gonna say more time consuming then should have been, sooooo probably would speed up the process a little if I had those files :)

THANKS there is still a lot to do and a lot to clean up like the edges and all the un wanted glue messes, but cant wait to have it all painted and looking shmick. Then can make a start on the next piece of the suit.

That's crazy even though you have built stuff in the past, your foam work is amazing. I will be following this thread just to see what you come up with next. Also will be using that clip system great idea.

Thanks guys appreciate all the praise, yeah the baggage clip is really easy and a simple solution, make sure you place it in a spot that you can reach easily, probably wouldn't be able to do it once your shoulders and biceps are on, so maybe throw on you chest piece first. And make sure you open up Odin's wrath on the gluing when installing the clip, it needs to be re-enforced to the max, I actually left some of the strapping on the clips and glue that up something chronic too. But don't get any glue inside the actual clip mechanism, because it will be hell to get out and it will most likely stop the clip dead in its tracks. I did it by accident and didn't realize until it was dry, the clips are cheep and I had a spare so no worries but yeah just keep that in mind.

Ive also begun to make a duct tape dummy to put it all on and to help with construction. Dont realy have anyone to help me with it, so its been a little difficult but, slowly getting it done

haha thanks guys yeah I'm finding the foam method more enjoyable and definitely easier and less time consuming. Archiving far better results in less time is always a winner in my books.
So Ive done a little more work on it since last time. Ive finished filling in the joins and seams with spack fill ( or wall filler, the real light fluffy stuff ) and I gave it a good seal wash, with PVA wood glue and water, my approx ration was 20% water to glue.
I left that to dry and applied a primer coat, just to highlight any remaining imperfections. after a good sanding I then applied my first coat of Plasti Dip rubber coating, as this took an entire can to achieve I am now out and need to order some more, that will have to wait. In the mean time I sussed out the lighting and played with placement a little.

IMAG2106_zps7oymtos2.jpg

Now I used the Green camo plasti dip can because that was the last can the place had that I got it from, and was only $15 instead of the normal $30 a can Ive found at other stores. I hate how everything is more expensive in Australia then the US but I do my best haha. But the color I used is the color I want for the finish anyway so Hopefully I can find a can of normal paint in a similar color. let me know if you guys know of any I could purchase online (that delivers to Australia).

I can only see the last image.0_o But from the looks of it, the chest goes really well with your helmet.

Go Foam! lol

Can't tell from the last pic, but from what I see in the first few posts, the helmet looks great. My only knock is that the lights may be too bright. I can't tell whether the chestpiece lights will be okay given that con venues are often better lit and require brighter fx lighting, but everything else looks great. Make sure that the paint job and weathering stays consistent with the scheme established with the helmet!

Nice job.

Yeah sorry guys, I did post them but they didn't show for some reason. I just through the helmet on for effect, I will be remaking the helmet to match the chest details at some stage, I will also be installing defusers for all the lighting, helmet, chest the lot so yeah the lighting will be taken down a peg or 2 with that. Will repost photos, hopefully will show this time.
