First Foam Build

Ok 405th, so both shoulders are now complete, lighting, strapping, padding and all. Both forearms are 90% there, Im just waiting on some more plasti dip to cover those bits that I replaced, to accommodate for more movement. I did a test fit with everything and its all fitting and looking really good, proportions seam right nothing feels or looks to big as far as I can tell from looking in a mirror.

This is the little lighting set up I have in both shoulders, really simple, does the job fantastically and it has a low profile, so it wont get damaged by movement or anything else

So for the padding I just used some furnature packing foam and some black cotton material, I just cut the size I needed and covered them with black cloth, gluing it all down with spray contact cement. Then hot glued them into position in the arms.

So now most of the upper body is complete, bar a few minor things that Ive fixed up.

For some reason in these pics the light makes the chest and cod piece look a different color, but I assure you they all match :D
Not sure which part I will start next maybe the helmet, maybe the legs not sure yet, which would you guys like to see me complete next ?

Ok 405th, Ive started the next piece, first of I would like to thank, Northern Dragon, CommanderPalmer and just the 405th community in general as they have saved me a lot of heart ache and a lot more searching for this part. So after acquiring some templates and a model of the Mjolnir Mk VI gen 1/2 i was able to modify the 3D model to make my own templates. and have thus started one of the more important pieces of this suit. heres a few pics of whats I gots so far.

Superb job! Your foam work is really good, and your paint and weathering effects finish it nicely!

I was a little worried as to the rigidity of the helmet, being made from foam and all but already its looking to be q pretty strong structure and its holding shape really well. Once finished and having had its glue wash and paint it should be a nice little peice. Thinking maybe of fiber glassing the inside once done to make stronger, as it will be a piece that will be handled a bit more then the rest, and doesn't need to be as flexible as the rest ether.

PS: I know the gaps on this piece look huge, but its because Ive started using a thick permanent marker to trace out my templates and when the joins come together it makes the gap look massive but, but they are nice and tight for the most part, nothing that cant be fixed later as usual.

Are you just using a pep file or do you have foam templates? If you're using templates do you think you could release them?

I have foam templates that Ive modified from a pep filem and yeah i could release them at a later date. I would like to clean em um a bit first as they probably only make sense to me at the moment.

Looks good! If you have any prominent seams you can always fill them with DAP Kwik Seal, the stuff works wonders. Dry wall spackle also works well too
