So while I was somewhat still high on drugs after getting my wisdom teeth taken out I decided to start on some chain mail for a Whiterun guard kit. I am going to try and make this as realistic as possible. So to start with I made my own links, and started making my own maille; I have around 13 inches, about 3 inches off from a sleeve done so far.

I've also pepped the helmet, and have applied resin to it. I am planning on molding and casting a copy for myself and selling others as kits. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of that currently... So I will have to get some soon...

A few weeks ago I picked up a wood shield, and stained it with both a walnut and black stain. Last night I made the stencil for the horse outline; and tonight I gave it a few coats of paint. I am pretty pleased with how it looks.

I gave it a clear coat after the yellow and I have to say I am pretty pleased with how it looks. The only catch is that in the game it has a metal outline... I really don't want to do it so I am thinking about making a leather outline. Still need to add a handle, possibly a shield strap.

I am going to make a leather tunic, hopefully find the right color of fabric for the sash, and enough leather for the straps. This is a slow build due to the time consuming parts...

I did pep the helmet but I'm using actual scale for the back, and the top part decided to warp on me... So I'm going to remake that

I was hoping to make one of these at some point and saying things they say to people XD like the shield!

I decided I wanted to make a Skyrim costume, but without a ton of pep... and I was high on drugs when I started this...

**Mini Update**

I have one sleeve of chain maile done... now to start on the second... I will hopefully be able to find the original steel wire again so I can make the rest of it with the same wire....

Finally got around to weathering the shield... unfortunately I haven't had the extra cash to pick up the leather to make the tunic as of yet... so hopefully but the end of the summer I'll have some

Alright guys... Stop with the stupid comments.

A. You're not funny.
B. If you don't have something constructive to say, don't comment. If you want to follow the build then click the subscribe button.
C. I've already heard most if not all of these types of comments.
D. I am not making any arrow the the knee jokes, or sweet roll jokes. So don't ask.
E. Have a good day.

I seriously love the shield, it's making me itch to do my own. If you weren't going for complete material accuracy, I'd say you might be able to use foam to wrap the edge of the shield and paint it to look like metal. I don't think leather is a bad second choice, but I would want the color/texture contrast that the metal would give it.

Can't wait to see your finished product!

I actually have started using a filler, it's not plaster or bondo, but since my boyfriend has seen my progress he has decided that he wants to do a Solitude guard... I think he is going for foam for the outer edge... not sure if he is going to start a thread or not... but I might be able to sneak a few pictures..

Ooh, That sounds like a good choice. I'd love to see how they turn out, especially if you're using different methods on the edges.

Your stencil was really clean. Did you do it directly on the shield?

Yes, I put a layer of painter's tape down then the picture and working from the interior I slowly cut through the paper and painters tape... it's always worked.

I figured it was something like that. Do you ever end up with scoring on the actual object because of it? I suppose in most cases it wouldn't matter so much, but I'd be afraid of leaving scratches underneath.

There is some slight indentation, but no more than if you dropped it. I try to use a blade that is somewhat dull .

However I have pics again!ImageUploadedByTapatalk1443070687.140669.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1443070704.972118.jpg
First layer of stain!

And hide helmet pics... I noticed that not all of the guards have guard helmets...
