I started this build about two weeks ago. Iv been reluctant to post it on here because the last build I still have not finished. This time my wife won't let me quit until I'm done with it. I'm also working on her a hunter costume but it wool be finished after this one.

This is what I have pics of right now. I'm finishing up the gauntlets this week. I have a lot of pics but can't upload them from here.

hoooly moly, pls pls don't stop on this build! haha
That all looks incredible, truly :thumbsup Did you get those little pinstripe details by scoring the foam and running a heat gun over it? They look quite crisp, I'm sure I can't be the only one that would love a little insight on your process, i suppose those pics you mention will shed some light though. Keep it up!

Yes that's how I got the small lines. Some of the details I had to build up in lair. That ment rebuilding some parts. When I get home and not my phone I'll post some more pics on the process. You can see lots of pics on my Facebook.

So i finally got time to upload some of the progress pics I have to photobucket. I know its been some time since I updated this thread. Iv been working a lot of over time to pay for a backpacking trip to the Grand Canyon with the wife. I have a of pics so I'll be posting them in groups to make it easier on my computer. (it's getting old and runs slow)

Here is how I made the templets for the chest. I use this method for the whole build so I probably wont post too many pics unless asked for.

First I used my Ducktape Form and draw what I want the armor to look like. This can take some time to get the proportions right. First I covered the form in tin foil then ducktape, making sure that i was not making too many creases in the tape.

Next I take off the tape and clean up the lines. I then trace the pattern onto some heavy paper. This paper will be what I use to transfer the pattern onto the foam.
(note: the foam takes up more space than the paper so you will need to add some length when making patterns this way. Bill Doran uses a foam measuring stick to compensate for this. You can look up this )
Youtube vedios to help.)

At this point I label and transfer the pattern onto the foam. Make sure you have a LEFT and RIGHT side. To do this just flip over the paper pattern.

I then do this for the back of the armor. When I was looking at reference pics I could see that the back was different so I had to make new patterns using the same method.

Next I cut out the next layer armor for the tape pattern. Following the same process only this time I traced the tape onto a folded peace of paper. When I was done tracing I just cut out the pattern and unfolded it. I used a ruler to add back some of the details that were on the tape pattern.

I keep cutting down patterns I made and added detail to. This was I have a pattern for each peace I make. I sand off the texture on the EVA foam and use contact cement to affix the layers together.

I'll post more later showing how I made the shoulders and back. Feel free to ask questions.

Well... is it a necro post if its your thread???
I know its been 4 years since I started this build. Good news, I finished it and got 2nd best in show at Oni Con 2015. Life kicked my butt the last few years and I forgot about 405th and this thread.
Im going to start up a Spartan build and felt like I needed to show that I can finish a build before starting a new one. So here are the few pics I could find that show it mostly finished.

Titan Build Oni Con.jpg

Ignore the face. This is the only pic I have of the armor finished. The camera got me at a bad time. This was taken by the cons camera man during the competition.

Torso finished.jpg

Here is the Chest finished before painting. To me its kind of the crown jewel of the build.

Anyway. Onto starting up my first build in 4 years. Hope I remember how to Foam Smith.

Wow, this is an amazing job! What do you mean excuse the face!?!?! The fact that you wore the paint is awesome as it is something you dont see much, including ingame! An amazing touch.

By any chance do you have a helmet?

No I did not build a helmet. By the time I was finished with the armor it was 2 days till the con. Also at the time almost no Pep was out for Destiny. That's why it was all hand drafted. Still had a lot of fun with it.

With all your work being hand drafted, it looks really good! I especially like the chest plate. It's a treat to see Destiny builds here.

I found some more of the thighs. I lost a lot of pics when I swopped computers. (old comp died)

The part that I really miss was the tabard on the belt. I hand drafted the design then heat pressed it on. But I don't have any pics of it.

Ah Ha! Found some. This is the tabard without the stencil. It's made from a heavy twill and hand stitched to the belt.

Sorry about how this is being posted. Having to dig up progress pics from different places. I found a few more of pieces in different stages of being built. If people are interested I'll post them and try to explain how they were built.
