Reclaimer Trilogy Master Chief Build

Another Halo game, another drive to build a new suit of armor.
This time, I set my sight on building the new rendition of the Master Chief as shown in the reclaimer trilogy.

I will be using this thread as a blog to post photos and ideas for my build. I will be following a similar building plan as my previous suits, consisting of the traditional pepakura, resin, fiberglass and bondo filler method. I will use my previous suits as reference and use my knowledge to strive towards better costumes.

Earlier, I commissioned a fellow 405th member, Master Builder to create high detail pepakura files. None of this would be possible without his patience and work. The files I will be using are included in the Files Archive.

First I started with the most exciting part - the helmet!

Torso was next!

Plan for my MA5D Assault Rifle is to use the file I converted into slices and build it out of MDF, leaving the interior hollow to allow for electronics/ storage/ removable magazine.

Crisp clean folds. I see no warping. Sizing looks excellent.
Fantastic 1st post for a build thread.

:)

Great job so far! I was beginning to wonder if I was the only working with Master Builders files. Should be finishing the pep of the helm within the next few days. Was curious to know if you had noticed, that most of the edge i.d.s were not lining up when pepping the helm? I believe that maybe it was because of the threshold. Maybe if there was more fold lines on the parts they would fit easier. Was having to to just make it work, ya know. Also, will you be sharing the sliced file of the AR? Thanks for sharing keep us posted!

Thanks for all the comments!
SavedbyGraceG12, I was not aware of any issues with the edge ID's. I did cut the helmet with a Silhouette Cameo so that may have been why. The file in it's current state is not very workable, and I was going to just make adjustments to the actual slices I make instead of the file. But yeah, once I get started on it, I wouldn't mind sharing the file.

Just wondering, did the helmet look to big, or out of proportion without the rest of the armor on? I kept the height at 300mm. You seem to be a slim fellow, like me. I'm 5'9'' in height. If I have to I will, but I really don't want to have to make another helm. I'll post some pics later when I get the helm 97% finished.

When I finished the helmet, it did seem a little big. Even with the torso, I was very skeptical until I tried them both on at the same time. I'm 6'4'' and 210 lbs so that should give you an estimate on size. I hope this helps!!

Gotcha, guess I'll have to wait, and see what its gonna look like with the torso. Worse comes to worse I'll just make another helm.

Just throwing my $0.02 in here, but generally speaking, aligning your pieces by numbers tends to lead to errors later down the line. I've always tried to ensure that my parts are aligned by edge and corner first, and it's happy circumstance if the numbers happen to fit up as well.

Fantastic work in any case, MikyVengeance, and impressively clean assembly work. This is going to be a build to watch.

How you glue al the piece of the torso? I already make the same file, but i dont have idea how to glue the piece can you say me please, by the way really nice work

Thank you! How did you like the file? I only used a dot of hot glue to keep in place for a photo and sizing. I'm still figuring out if I should resin these separately and build some sort of locking system for putting the torso on before bondoing. Once I figure it out, I'll post it here for sure.

I apologize for the lack of content in this thread. I am currently in school and it has been extremely busy. I am always working on parts here and there but nothing to post about. I recently got myself a scrol saw which will be useful to cut out the Assault Rifle and Magnum templates out of MDF. I used the games assets found in the file library to export a model of an Assault Rifle into Autodesk 123D and Meshmaker and created a sliced version into Pepakura.
I plan on releasing the file for free once I perfect it and it turns out okay!

My plan is work with 1/4 MDF for all 12 slices of the rifle, and by hand, draw out pieces that need to be hollowed (barrel, trigger, electronic display, room for batteries, magazine well). If there is a way to transfer these sections into the pep file, I would love to know how.
