So... after getting this far tonight, i tried it on to make sure it fit before i went any further. It didn't :(. I've updated the scale and made sure the margins on my printer were turned lower, so hopefully this time it turns out better lol.

For fitting, I had to cut out a little of the opening to make it fit. When I went bigger to make my head fit in without cutting, it looked too big.
Just thought I'd say something before you start from scratch again.

Thanks for the advice, but it's waaay too small lol. I don't think any amount of cutting will fit this bad boy lol. I made just the opening for my new scale and tried it on. It fits, but it's tight. I know I'll have to trim the opening of the new one to get it to fit right.

Sorry fit the double post, but no one has posted in my thread in days. I'm almost as far with my new helmet as i got with my last. I was wondering, how long does it take everyone to finish a pep piece? I know every person and piece are different, but i just want to see if I'm super slow lol.

I built my Halo Reach scout helmet (which i have yet to resin, etc) In about 18 hours combined over two days. But that was none stop work, then sleep, then back to peping until I was done.
I had a lot of free time, though.

Updated pic with a shirt on lol.

The pep gods have shown me their mercy! My new build is finally caught up to my last and it fits! It's a very, very tight fit, but i know i can trim the opening later to fit nicely. I really hope to finish the pep and resin this weekend. I'm ordering all sorts of goodies on Friday. Bondo, fiberglass cloth, files, primer... I'm going to be set!

Good clean pep work there. I'm not seeing much, if any, room for padding in your latest helmet sizing, and if you're planning to use polyester resin (Bondo brand fiberglass resin) then be advised that it does shrink the parts a bit as it cures. Would hate to see you go through all the work of a barely-fitting helmet only to have it not fit after hardening...

There's plenty of room in the back lol. I had it sitting funny, with the bridge resting on my nose so it wasn't just hanging around my neck for the picture. I have an extremely wide head. I appreciate the concern though.

Here it is from a different angle with me holding it. Let me know if you still think it's too small. I would hate to waste anymore time pepping lol.

Sorry for double posting.

Got most of the top done tonight. Just need to finish the back and bottom on the visor, then install the supports and I'm in like Flynn. Can't wait to start putting some resin on this thing. I bought a Styrofoam head to put it on today so the top doesn't droop and it will be easier to resin.

Thanks for looking :)

From the side angle it looks better. I think sizing is the hardest part of the whole building process. Everything else is simply implementation.

Finally done pepping the helmet. Just installing the braces and will start resin coating tomorrow. I'm super stoked. Printing the chest now.

I started to resin the helmet. I should be able to finish the bottom tomorrow after the top cures. I also felt quite offput at how massive and how many pieces were on the chest, so i started on a much small piece; the left forearm. I'm using the HD one by Robot Chicken. It's great quality, but these tiny pieces are driving me nuts. I'll post another update soon. Thanks for stopping by!

Nice start on the pep!
(Side question - was your gamertag MEATWAD2382 back on Halo 3?)

No, my gamertag was TheXMeatXWadd.

I love getting goodies in the mail! So i finished the first coat of resin on my helmet last night, and silly me... i didn't bother to read the cure time of my resin. It just so happens that it's 72 hours. So i won't be using it anymore. I printed the chest tonight and will start on it tomorrow. I'm going to be ordering the epoxy resin Cereal uses when i get paid next. I sure hope my chest fits. I had trouble getting the bigger pieces to fit on 1 page. I'm not sure what I'm going to do if it needs to be bigger -_-

That's all for tonight folks. I might upload some pics of the chest tomorrow if i can make some substantial progress.

Out of curiosity, is the Elmer crafting glue still holding your helmet together after using the using the resin? I'm starting off using a hot glue gun, but your method seems cleaner than mine. Not to mention with less burns on the fingers.

Yeah, the craft glue is holding up like a champ. I myself tried a glue gun last night and hated it lol. The only problem i have with craft glue is getting some tabs to stay stuck. I only apply a very thin layer, but sometimes it seems to saturate the tab and it pulls away from my piece. It's nothing a little more glue and some pinching won't help, but it gets a little annoying. I'm actually thinking about switching to super glue or maybe some kind of gorilla glue. We'll see.

I'd recommend staying away from the super glue. Super glue tends to give out fumes that after breathing in can damage your lungs for a certain amount of time. I've already learned this from the prototype helmet I was working on. It's why I'm using the hot glue for my armor now instead. That and your helmet looks nice and clean, so I think you should keep using the glue that you have now, but that's my opinion.
