Yesterday I got some parts from the HW store to make a Vac-table .
That is all done! 24 * 24 Inch
Ive picked up some styrene from TAP up the road today...
I am forming up a frame for the 16*16 inch blanks I am gonna pull .
I recon I can make magnums and hand parts and other goodies.

I really wanna master it as its SO cool! and sooooo cheap to run and H3 armor is so roundish that it lends it self to vac.

By tonight there should be a full pull! .....

That looks like a pretty good pull. The only critique I have is the frame. I know you mentioned that it would be worked on but I thought I heard the seal between the frame and table not completely sealed on one occasion. It was after the plastic had been sucked down. I could be wrong though, maybe I just heard the vacuum making funny noises. Even with that though, the pull still looks pretty good. What's the thickness of the plastic?

yea that pull never mated to the gasket fully.
Its 1/16 styrene .
The pull we did on the leg part was far better .

we were both just shocked how well my setup worked .
It's not like I did any math

It's a little easier to get a good seal with a raised platen. It sort of gives the styrene a ledge to seal itself against instead of just relying on the gaskets.

considering how cheap it is to do vacuum forming. I can see this is going to be a very useful tool to have for more than just costumes.. .in fact I may just vacuum form a noble 6 helmet for myself and a friend.it would be easy to make a bunch of them and then put the bullet hole in the visor as a static prop...

Some people are using clips to secure it down then sucking it, instead of pushing

If it's not broke, don't fix it
