Undersuit

As a base, I've gotten 2 different base layers.
I've gotten some Nike compression gear for warmer temperatures, and I've gotten some Spaio compression clothing. Thus far, I'm really liking the Spaio for the designs on it.

Spaio:

Really like this set. super low-profile waistband makes it really easy to conceal if you're tucking the top in, but if left out, the top also has a low profile hem to give it a nice seamless look.

Nike:

The lines on the pants shouldn't be an issue as they should all be covered by the shin pieces. The waistband is also VERY noticeable so it would have to be covered by either a piece of fabric across the abdomen, or the shirt would have to be untucked.

As far as the pieces to attach to the undersuit, I am waiting on Vrogy to release an undersuit kit he has been working on. It looks outstanding and I cant wait to attach everything.

The M6h2 looks great so far. When it's done, make sure to upload pictures to MyMiniFactory. Not enough people do.

absolutely, will do. one note, and I'm sure you're aware of it, but in the areas where the extra attachments meet the frame, there is very little material actually connecting it. Not sure if it was by design to allow us to mod them, or if its just how it rendered in my slicing software, but I had to reinforce a couple areas with some minor friction welds. Once it's all goo'd up though, it should be incredibly solid. And thank you for providing the community with such an outstanding model!

Not exactly intended. Everything was modeled separately, then combined and run through Netfabb. I'm still working on the model so it can be assembled.

20160202_180929602_iOS.jpgKnife #2 being printed for SnG's. (Sorry about the orientation... not sure how to fix that as the phone normally auto-orients.)

Knife is done, but it is WAY too big.... I rescaled it, and I'm prepping it to print tomorrow. Center Chest piece is on the printer now. 16.5 hours to go.

Man!, I really need to get my printer built! This all looks great! I will totally watching this one.

I am doing a custom build. I am using a fastbot bbp1 for the controler. Some bigger nema 23 motors, all 20 mm rails, extruded aluminum for the frame, and dual direct drive j-heads. It will have a 700mm cubic print volume. I know that it is big, but I don't plan on printing giant pieces all the time. It more of a just if I need to.

That's a nice build volume... really nice.... yeah it'll take forever to print, but if I could print entire pieces of armor at once, it'd be great. (The chest for this alone is split up into 36 pieces...) but I'm working with a real workspace of 240x240x120. I'm running a 2020 aluminum frame too, so I could expand it anytime I want (just need the smooth and threaded rods) but its a matter of how much real estate I can give up for the thing. I'm limited to a pretty small room and a corner in my garage for everything, so its an adventure.

Totally understand the real estate problem. I am hoping to get started on the assembly some time in April. I still have about 1000.00 left in parts to buy, I already have about 900 worth sitting I the corner staring at me. The only down side to the bigger print volume is the bigger, more expensive, parts to keep it precise. I also had to have the heated bed custom made, which was a 300 dollar bill:facepalm. A sheet of 6061 aluminum just about gave me heart attack. The plan has been to work on getting good the big ticket item out of the way first then working on the cheaper parts every payday.

I bet it's not too big for Rambo.

For the past 3 years I've been working on a folding 3D printer. Much like the one Ben Heck built. With mine, you will build it to what ever size you want (to fit your preferred build plate size and desired height). He laser cut his pieces, mine is 3D printed. I had the "part time" crafter in mind. I have limited working desk space, and it's nice to be able to just fold up my printer when not in use and store it out of the way.

I think Rambo could wield a claymore-sized "knife" and it'd still be on the small size. But hey, Rambo, right?
Edit: Rambo unofficially endorses the size of the knife. guns-replaced-thumbs-up-20.jpg

As far as the printer, very interesting way to make a 3D printer portable. Only a few things I don't really like about it, but you could call me a precision snob all day and night about it and it wouldn't bother me (Have a background in precision machining, so I feel its justified.) but the V-groove system for moving the bed in and out of position is an interesting concept. I dislike the idea of wood being used for the carriages just because it can eventually get messed up due to humidity and some water absorption, and I never trust flammable things around any amount of heat.

If I were to do a project like that, it wouldn't probably weigh upwards of 60 pounds because I would want to surface grind every single moving aspect of that to ensure it's within an absurd tolerance at any given time. (So an aluminum or stainless frame/misc hardware would be my choice) but its definitely a cool concept! Even looking at my set up, I've thought of how I could basically fold up my Z-axis braces and carry the thing away as a whole.

I didn't like the V-groove system either. I've changed it. My doors also fold in half so it doesn't take up so much desktop space. Having the Z axis fold down is basically a Foldarap.

Today's update!!

I finished printing Knife #2 and it's a MUCH more reasonable scale to myself than the previous one.

I also finished printing the entire Front Center section of the chest piece. On the bed now is the (bear with me here...) Front half of the Front Left chest piece. This will get done printing early tomorrow morning, and then I'm on to the back half of that section. The entire front left section should be done by either late tomorrow night, or early morning on the 5th. (hooray!) Then I get to do it all over again for the right, and THEN I can move on to back half of the chest... I'm really hoping I can finish the front half on the remaining spool and a half of filament I've got on hand.

Pictures!!
