I've been working on this for a few weeks. It's made from polystyrene foam, some craft foam for detail, and some 3D printed parts.
Still some more filling, sanding, etc to go before assembly and painting.
I'm coating everything in a light layer of Smooth Cast, sanding, then coating with Gusso and sanding again.

[EDIT] Forgot to mention that this was initially based off an unfold by vidofnir234, with lots of freehand work and some 3D assets I found on the net.

Sight: I modeled this but haven't printed it yet. It may still need some tweaks.

That detail is phenomenal! How do you get such good cuts on the polystyrene?

Looking great so far! Original paint scheme or custom? I'd like to finish my Halo 5 Sniper but it's way too cold here to spray paint. :p

Wow! Looks really good to be made from foam. At first glance I figured it was 3d printed. Outstanding work!

Thanks! There are definitely some ugly parts, but nothing some battle damage can't hide :)

The optics package is nearly done. The screen is a placeholder for now. There's also some ugly areas where the primer ate the foam. I missed those areas when prepping with Smoothcast and Gesso. Lesson learned.
Weathering should hide most of it.

Battle damage is a godsend, best method by far, I use it on everything! Never an "ugly part", it's just seen a lot of action.

I know what you mean by the primer eating the foam. I spent about 5 hours stenciling a hexagon pattern for an airsoft project, but when it came time to paint, the paint I used ate through the vinyl and bonded with the receiver. I feel you, but the rifle is looking great man!

Looking good, if the optic's hollow you can consider putting some LED in there for the glow effect.
Yeah, I probably should have but I got lazy.

Quick update. I've been trying to work out how to do the lenses on the optics. I ended up using some Worbla TranspArt and the bottom of a soda can to form a clear convex lens.
It's going to work pretty well and took like 10 minutes.

this looks beautiful, always wanted to do a Sniper, and I love your magazine :O

Should have some pictures to share pretty soon. Also, I'm going to make it in to a REQ card, so I created a blank one. Feel free to use it on your own weapons/props/armor.

SEXY :D
I'm planning on making a sniper for my suit someday, if I get the time. Gonna have to come back to this thread and check this out.

I hope my M247H comes out as sweet. Great job. Does the screen light up?

No lights on the screen. If I had it to do over again I would probably add lights. I printed the screen image on photo paper and added a clear plastic cover. In normal lighting it appears to be backlit.
