Hey guys so this is my official build thread for my armour.
It took a long time to find the armour I wanted to do, I think I went through 3 or 4 different model helmets before I decided which I wanted and that was when I found Master Builders pep file for the Mk VI from Halo 4/5 (master builder is a godsend ty so much).

Haven't done much, ive done about 2 thirds of one of the shins which I'm hoping I measured and scaled properly lol. Printed out the helmet which I'll make (which hopefully fits) when I finish this shin. I haven't decided whether I'm going to go to Supernova in July (I live in Australia) as I've never done cosplay before or been to an event for it.

I made the assault rifle from halo 2 I think? But I might just scrap it and do the pistol because I screwed up the assault rifle lol.

If anyone has any tips for me they would be appreciated :)

Now for pics.. (not many) haha.

Was gonna say that your pepping looks really good also! Just a litte tip, there is really no need to score your fold lines with a pen. All that is needed is to just flip your xacto blade over, using the tip of the blade to score the cardstock. If anything, the pen is just rounding out the paper. With the blade, it cuts into the first layer of the cardstock. Making a easier fold. Also, having tabs on a single edge, instead of tabs falling in between each other makes it easier to.

Good work on the scaling to! Did you keep it at default scale? And, how tall are you?

Cheers guys :) I've actually stopped scoring with a pen now for the helmet as its honestly taking up too much time so I'm just folding it myself, the folds aren't as sharp tho. I have a cheap blade it's not an xacto so it's not very good. Might invest in one next week.

After doing a bit of stalking on SBG's master builder thread, I'm worried about the scaling for the helmet. I just measured the height of my head rather than the measurements for the neck of the helmet so I'm hoping it's the right size. The boots could he slighter bigger but I'm happy with them as is. I'm 5'6-7" I believe so I didn't keep the scaling at default. I believe the helmet is scaled to 285mm rather than the default 300mm. Really happy with the shin though as that scaling is spot on.
I'm about a third of the way through doing the helmet now too :)

Not much of an update but more of a little side note.

I've used my roommates laptop to print all my pep files but as its his laptop and hes always using it I can't exactly put it in front of me to join up pieces. The process of doing my armour is probably taking twice as long as anyone with access to a computer as I have to go through the pages and find the matching numbers. It can take up to 15 minutes for me to find the piece I need to glue to the matching number.. I plan on investing in a cheap notebook/laptop next week so hopefully that can speed things up for me because I'm really pushing to get this suit done.

When I was cutting the parts out for my helmet, I simply grouped pieces together that I noticed had similar numbers on them. Saved me a bit of time overall, and it's definitely not necessary to have a screen in front of you, though it can be helpful.

I'm updating just for the sake of updating lol. I've been procrastinating so much the last couple of days and not having a computer makes this process slow.

Anyway I've got like a little bit of OCD so I'm really not happy with how some parts of this visor are turning out but then I remembered I'm going to be cutting it out anyway. And I'm trying not to be too hard on myself seeing as this is my first build and I'll only get better with practice I guess.

Picsss

Lots of work there. Although you might be cutting parts out and not using them, (visor) just be aware that as a whole, the unfold needs to be as accurate as possible to keep the right shape all around the helmet, symmetrically and evenly.

Good work so far mate.

Are you referring to the placement of the tabs? What I mean by that is, the tabs should be placed all on one edge, instead of being every other tab with a space in between?

I'm guessing similar to what I've done here by re-doing the Unfold to my preferences. You can see where I marked a certain area with the black lines, and red arrows showing where they join.

I wondered how you got yours so clean!!! How do you do that?

In the 2d view, right click with your mouse. Only works if the cursor is hovering over the 2d view. After right clicking, a tool box will pop up. You can select, join/unjoin parts, and even edit yours tabs.

When you get to doing the forearms, and bicep/shoulders, just let me know. I can share those with you. That way it can save you from having to do the work, and save you time. As for the legs, you just might have to do them yourself, since I haven't started on the legs yet.

No, I mean that even though you are going to cut out the visor and replace it with a real visor, you should still go through all the motions of assembling it as accurately as you can. Once you have hardened it you can then cut it out and it doesn't affect shape.

Alright sweet so I'm best off doing the tabs all on one side for the torso? (Only if it's easier). I'm using your pics as a reference and noticed some of your pieces on the helmet have different numbers to mine and your helmet looks SO clean and not warped haha I'll send you a message when I'm up to the forearms and biceps and you can send me the files you've got? I'm getting a new laptop on Tuesday so that's helpful too haha

I'll see how I go coz I haven't finished the other side yet so I'm not sure how it's gonna look :/
