I still hate pepakura... But it's done.
Not perfect, but I guess bondo can fix that. Still looking at hardening suggestions other than fiberglass and resin. A friend suggested Smooth-cast 65D. Pep building definitely isn't my specialty so I'm open to suggestions.

This whole build looks great . I'm still amazed at the detail some of you guys can put into these foam builds. Can't wait to see paint on it, personally I think paint is the fun part. Cutting and glueing just seems like a grind that never ends. I give you props for building everything before paint. I'm impatient. I have to paint every piece I assemble.

Awesome build so far man! I will definitely be checking this thread out to see what happens with the helmet because I am trying to decide how to make mine as well haha. Excited to see the sealing/painting of the suit!
So I wound up redoing the helmet with a different file that someone sent me.
I also made it bigger and it fits my head a lot better than the first one did. Also there are fewer seams which might make bondo a bit easier, which is good, because bondo is what I screwed up with my last build. I'll use the first helmet for practice though.
After work I'll head to my shop to resin and fiberglass both helmets and seal and plastidip all my armor. Updates tonight, and all weekend, as it's turbo mode to get this ready for mid August.

Big update today.
Applied first layers of plastidip to these pieces after doing some edge sealing. Probably need 2 more coats.
These pieces required a lot of sealing so I'll sand that off in the morning.
Also applied fiberglass to the inside of the helmet. Will sand down the outside a bit tomorrow. Have a friend who is an auto mechanic helping me midweek with bondo. Tomorrow and Monday will mostly be painting. I plan on using acrylic paint for this so I expect it to take a while.

Painting update.
I will be doing a black wash and weathering on the paint job to make it look darker. Tomorrow I'm heading to my friend who is an auto mechanic and will work on bondo for the helmet. I kinda debated the shade of blue to use for a while. I think a lot of people use royal blue spray paint for Carter but in the game stills it was a lighter shade of blue but not quite baby blue. Hopefully weathering will make this look good.

So yea, I have wearable armor now. But we're not totally done. I still have to add the front attachments, the helmet attachment, and I need to make a DMR. But... We have a new Spartan. And I have a small comic con today to test some things out. At least initially, movement is really good and I was really hoping for that.

Now a few small updates before Otakon.
I redid some of the straps around my groin and my thigh armor because I noticed that my thigh armor was sliding down my leg. Now it holds in place no matter what I do.
Also I put in a fan and lights in the helmet. Wanted to make a combat knife but my parents are currently visiting me from Florida and I don't have the time. I'll work on that plus some big weapons for Dragon Con.
