Couple of weeks ago I was hanging with a fellow Halo bud who's always producing great stuff in his studio. So we did a few pours of what he had available and this was one of the final results we ended up doing.
From my understanding this was originally a 3D Printed piece then he did the old typical silicone mold process. Once we finished I spent the next week cutting the visor out, trimming all the fat and giving it a quick sanding. Luckily for me the guys I work with get a real kick out of me building stuff like this so they're always willing to give a helping hand in whatever I need so it's done right.
While I was out doing some projects for a client I met up with an autobody paint specialist and showed him what I was doing. I had been racking my brain on the paint scheme as I knew I really wanted this thing to be blue and black. Problem was all the paint I was coming across was gloss and I didn't want to spend a ton of money on testors or tamiya spray paint at 15 bucks a can, not too mention there isn't a shade of blue in their inventory that matched what I wanted.
James, the body shop guy asked if I had a paint code and sure enough I figured the shade of blue from the 2016 Honda Fit was just perfect. He whipped me up a quick can of this stuff and some thinner and when I got home I started working on the taping process.
I pretty much airbrushed the black and blue I wanted and used double sided tape on an iridium flex film visor my pal gave me. I must say, I'm REALLY proud on how this came out and just wanted to share with you all. It's really an inspiring piece imo and is proudly sitting on my display cabinet with a few of my other works.
