Just a quick comment that I'd like to make
(or point out)
But I was just on the members search
and as I searched the "A's it wasn't until
page 7 or 8 that I found accounts with
Adam's name in them. There's an account:
Ab____(fill in blank) that goes almost 6 pages!
" Abha7 Abha 99 Absupperdee
Abblah blah blah. . . " I'm wondering whats the
point when all these names that have 2 views,
no posts, and inactive since 2005? Is there
a power that is reserved to The admins to
remove such nonsence accounts? I'm
just looking to find some good people.
But it's like finding a cheerio in a sea
of cheetoes. Anyhow, just throwing my idea out.

I agree with a yearly "clean up" of the member accounts. I have another account on here that i cant use (i forgot the email and password...) and I dont know if it can be deleted. But there are tons of inactive users!.....

Don't need to remove inactive users.
Deletin an user also deletes his posts.
Imho more appropriate is to add some filter to the current userlist, the filter that allows to view only users that were active for last NN months/days/whatever dependin on request.

yeah it wouldnt be too smart to delete all those inactive users.

its just the few that post a lot that get the most attention.

Couldn't admins send some sort of message to them all and those that don't respond get deleted???

I was going to suggest something similar not too long ago...
I'm not familiar with the admin section of the IP board but I'm pretty sure there is a mass delete function for members, maybe something like:
Anyone who registered more than six months ago, has less than 10 posts and hasn't been online in the past six months gets dumped, I can't imagine there being that many people in that group that are planning on coming back to be an active part of the forum.

Most of these accounts have been made using spam bots...

But i still think if a user has been ofline for over 2 year, he should be removed.
Even bungie does this on their forums.. and as belakor said (bungie has an automatic delete) we should have an automatic delete like bungie..

I think we need the following:
1. HIDE inactive user from userlist
2. In case he returns and trying to log in, send him request to re-activate his account and if he agree to re-activate, bring him back to memberlist

Best way to find a member is search for their name when you click members. There are so many members, spambots, spider bots, and noobs who sign up for some reason but dont post.

Theres only 150-200 truly active members.

No.

You'd have to ban every single IP from the site, and maybe their DNS server IP too. With thousands of them here, it aint worth the trouble of banning each and every one, plus, who's to say some of them might actually be real? They could be banned and blocked for no reason, so they can just sign up and waste space as long as they want.

well ivs looked at all the people and im on this almost every day but i have 2 other accounts that my computer wouldn't let me use, there Shugo and Luteinant shugo! so please get rid of them if you can without messing up this account :D, and the people that haven't been on in a year should get rid of :D

It seems like it could be that all these thousands of "No posts, under 2 views, logged in once 2 years ago" accounts could just be deleted. They haven't done anything, and if they were real people, they could easily re-create their profile if they needed to. Just my 2 cents.

I agree fully with Robo...

also the account I cant use and wish for it to be deleted is: KellyGoosecock
just incase one of th emods can delete it

Yes, the lack of contribution on the part of a member would render no consequence when the account is deleted, IE account with 10 or less posts and X amount of inactivity deleted - The chances are very small that you loose good input.

Most likely the post is "I M N008 KAN EWE SELL ME SUM ARMUR CHEEP" (exaggerated to imply my point) or the user looked around and decided that the effort/cost was too high to actually make the armor and left. (And of course spam accounts)

Having said that I think that 'trimming the fat' so to speak would be better for the rest of the active and concerned members of the community.

EDITED to clarify example.

LOL

But yes I agree with Robo on the execption that it would take a large amount of time to do such a thing. Although, that it could be worked at, still, its would take a huge chunk out of my day.
