I used 3mm thick EVA craft foam for the body of the tacpad. I cut it individually since two need to be cut further to fir the acrylic "screen". It's also the perfect height to fit the battery pack of the fairy lights.
Detail bits plus the lighting system. You can laugh, but I was stunned at how well the fairy lights illuminate the "screen".
Once I file down the marked bits I'm going to seal the "screen" onto the acrylic. I purchased some sample sheets of light blue and turquoise colored vellum online. Perfect amount of transparency. I resized the reference image to fit the screen opening and tada!
The acrylic "screen" arrived thicker and larger than I had intended. I marked off the areas that have to be filed down in order to properly fit. I have three more pieces so if this ends up being sacrificed as a test run, so be it!

Top "frame' portion, body, and back of the TacPad. I have to add details to the smaller back piece with a wood burner so I don't cut too deep with the Xacto.
A glorious mess of creation! Overall I am pleased with how this is coming out.
