Ah, my poor ODST suit, slapped some repairs on the day before, broke one of the shoulders on the way in and was in desperate need of a hair cut. Still good times and an amazing spartan suit to hang out with
Ok, did not make it ready for supanova at all. I did paint around 1/8th of the pieces but it was just to rushed, the join lines were far to obvious and the gloss paint went from looking shiney to amplifying all the imperfections. So I am currently experimenting with methods to smooth out all the...
Holy crap! I'm still going to call it the buzz light year suit but damn, the colour scheme works great, the undersuit really pulls it all together and even the floating leg pieces (not directly connected) look, well, like they'd save your legs from a bullet. I'm rambling but I'm super impressed...
Thanks. It's certainly an improvement over my previous foam work.
Everything has it's glue coats on now, they don't flex when being used but have a little bit of give to avoid damage. Some bits just need a light sanding.
Currently installing servos for the flaps (pictures incoming). I've simply...
As far as I can tell I've got all the parts, just need to connect the moving parts together.
Haven't done much visually amazing, just lots of glue coats and wire framing to make the parts that need to hold shape rigid. However I do now have a chest RT:
The light disperses a bit more than that...
Been working off and on with this project for a few months (mostly off):
The suits roughly a 50:50 split between files from Darkside501st on the RPF and my own scratch building using the files and pictures as reference (scratch buildings a lot more fun). I've found 6mm foam and about 3 coats...
Nothing helpful to say, but this thread is a treasure trove of ideas, absolutely loving it. Whenever I hear someone say they're going to do a metal suit it's normally over in a couple of days, but you already look like you know what your doing so best of luck!
The actual system for the electronics is pretty small. It's just got a lot of daisychained LEDs to light the whole thing up, and when it's over a meter long and has moving parts all changing the dimensions it was easier to use a lot of wire and have no problems then to be minimalistic :). Also...
Poor guy looks so dejected in the last shot. Seeing the rifle compared to a person now makes you realise how impossing they are. What's currently inside the morph suit?
I don't remember mentioning a counter! (But I have studied how to do them now/ you can do it with off the shelf chips). Do you want an 7-segment display (think alarm clock) or just a warning light (would fit the look better I think).
But unless you want to do some wireless signals somehow I...
