I did something very similar to this on my helmet, but instead used a 1:1 body filler resin mix on the inside, it sands easier and you can put fiberglass down on the inside as well for added stability.

Yes I am, I just started the project about three weeks ago and wanted to get the helmet done before Halloween. I'm going to slowly be building the whole thing over the course of the year, its just going to take a little bit with my crazy schedule lol.
