    bluvasa's 3d/scale model thread

I've finished all the details and prepped him for 3d printing. The parts were attached together with a frame to keep the printing costs down. I've having him printed at 1/35th scale which is about 2.5in tall. More on my blog

    bluvasa's 3d/scale model thread

I've been working with Halo 3d models for a couple years now with the goal of creating hi-res models for 3d printing. My latest project is a hi-res version of the Halo CE Mark V suit. More info on my blog

Robot Chicken's PILLAR OF AUTUMN Build - 3D Printed

Yeah, I think the real issue will be whether or not the detail will actually be printed. This of course depends on the scale that you are going to print the ship out at and the capabilities of the printer. This guy makes some of the best FDM printed models that I've seen. The details are...

Robot Chicken's PILLAR OF AUTUMN Build - 3D Printed

I would align the texture so that all of the horizontal lines are perpendicular with the front of the ship. The gradual sloping of the lower part of the texture doesn't really look right to me as it is too stretched. Whenever I see something like this in-game it makes me think that Bungie...

Robot Chicken's PILLAR OF AUTUMN Build - 3D Printed

If it were me I would simplify the detail and make the panel lines recessed. Unless you are going to print at a very large scale model, most of that detail probably won't be printable on an FDM printer. I would choose the most prominent panel lines that capture the character of the ship...

Miniature Mark VI from Halo 3

Yeah, the material I chose (FUD) is translucent. At one point I thought about a transparent visor, but I scrapped that idea as I was going for a shaded paint style. I modeled a framework and attached all the pieces so I could have some control over the print orientation. Here is how he came...

Miniature Mark VI from Halo 3

Thanks for the interest! kaween: I used the in-game model as my primary reference and remodeled all the fine detail based on the in-game textures and normal maps. I took to zbrush as it allowed me to sculpt detail like a I would a real scale model/figure peterthethinker Printing anything like...

Miniature Mark VI from Halo 3

Hey everyone, here's my 1/35th scale version of Master Chief as seen in Halo 3. He is about 2.5in tall. I modeled him in zbrush and had him 3d printed by shapeways. I painted him in Vallejo acrylics. I plan on doing more scale figures and possibly some vehicles from the Halo...

No problem! I don't have any time to model this myself right now, so I figured I'd turn it over to the community. -bluvasa
