Noob WIP: Mark VI (unfolded by Robogenisis)

The chest is the only piece I've printed so far, and it had that issue. Just check to make sure before you print =D

Master chief and a cutter... Sounds like a bad day for the covvies

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

So I haven't gotten to this stage yet on my helmet (fiberglassing tomorrow), but when doing bondo on the exterior for finishing, what methodology is best? Should I just hit the areas that need it or should I coat the whole thing in a thin layer, or something else I haven't thought of? Also, is...

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

So I've just finished rondo'ing the inside of the helmet to get rid of any nooks and crannies before I fiberglass, but the thing in incredibly strong! Should I bother with fiberglass? It's not that big of a hassle for me since I have all the supplies I need to fiberglass but it almost seems...

First Build: Fallout 3 T45-D Power Armor

For pep, 110lb cardstock is usually best

About to start work on a helmet.

Status update (I'll put pics in once I'm back at my comp since I'm doing this in the lab I work in): put initial resin coat on the outside and I've rondo'd the top of the inside and should be getting the sides done by the end of tonight and putting fiberglass in starting tomorrow EDIT: rondo...

About to start work on a helmet.

I'm starting the fiberglassing on the helmet tomorrow and I've started pepping a chestpiece, hopefully gonna have it done in a day or two. I'll post some pics of it once it's done. I think I'm gonna go for the full set of armor =D

Noob WIP: Mark VI (unfolded by Robogenisis)

I'm using Robo's unfolds for my MKVI and I've noticed that on some of his files he doesn't use a dot-dash-dot line for valleys, just a wider dashed line, so you might want to check that before you print (unlike me haha)

    "Help!" for: Papercraft or Pepakura

I'm getting ready to make my chestpiece. I measured my chest width at 12" so I'm scaling it to 13.75" width on the model... does this sound reasonable? I'm asking because the chest pep file came as 150mm wider than I am, which raises some eyebrows

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

Resin/bondo won't kill you for looking at it the wrong way, it's just that you want to minimize your exposure to those chemicals as they aren't good for you. An old t-shirt and jeans is great for working with those materials since if you get any resin or bondo on em it's not gonna come off but...

which pep file did you use for your chestpiece? I like the look of it quite a bit

    "Help!" for: Papercraft or Pepakura

If there's some warping to a piece how would I best be able to fix that before moving onto resin/bondo/fiberglass? If I move it back with my hands it looks right but it springs back to looking wrong once I take the pressure off. I was thinking popsicle sticks as an internal support to make it...

About to start work on a helmet.

Here's some closer up pics of the helmet The visor is a bit offset to the left, any idea how to fix that before I move onto resin/bondo/fiberglass?

A review before I start my first project

I'd suggest doing the boots/leg pieces of your armor before your helmet, it lets you learn how to work with pep and make a few mistakes on a piece that not many people will be looking at. Also, be ready to spend a ton of time working on your armor! I just finished a helmet yesterday (55 parts)...

See, what you did there, is what I want to make happen in my armor making attempt. That's amazing!
