Now, on a similar note (no need to make new post). If the costume is to be used outside in the sun, PLA is probably not a great choice...but I hear PETG can be a paint to paint.
what suggestions do you guys have? Resin coated PLA? PETG and try and get a good paint to stick? I don’t want to...
Sooo. I did a thing.
Doesn’t all hand properly. But it’s literally just slid on. Still very much WIP, but I am super stoked.
rethinking colour...again.
Ok, so i have a friend who is looking to get some stuff printed, and my small Ender 3 printers would require the pieces to be split. He has offered to front some cash for a larger printer to limit the splits... so the question is, what (not stupid expensive [over $1500]) printer should I take a...
I’ve never used Bondo on that scale, but they even in the kits for cars, if there is a straight up hole they supply a metal screen for support.
with all that in mind, depending how thing it is, it may hold. Though it may be heavy as hell lol
It’s actually just a ‘face shield’ from Amazon. Just traced out the lens I printed and chop chop.
I am getting another Spartan to vacuform my real lens soon. Just gotta smooth out the print and send it :)
here’s the listing

So I ordered a face shield for my Mando helm...and I managed to squeeze it so I had some left over for my HAZOP lens. Now I AM getting a lens formed for me, and it’s just loosely toed in, so this is just a stand in. But DAAAAAAAYUM it looks good.
bonus Mando, in severe WIP state LOL.
so waiting on the epoxy to set, but i tried going with just 2 sets of rare earth magnets in the 'cubes' above. one set was able to hold it in place, the second set should make it solid.
i might run a small bead of black caulking or something along the gap to give it some cushion, and stop rubbing.
So the wrench in that idea is the ears. I would have to add them vertically at the back (which could work) because my ears actually go in that big cube of the back piece lol. It’s a snug bucket.
Next conundrum on the list. The back piece of the helm. So I need to have it open/close I. Order to fit my head and not look like a 10 gal bucket. I cut the back neck area off and now I’m looking for a way to mag/connect it.
as you can see in the side pic, I have added the little cubes behind...
Thanks! Some of these tricks should help for sure. I’ve had decent results when it doesn’t dip below -5. I did some today at -1 and it turned out pretty good. But it is certainly not ideal haha.
