Helioskrill Foam Armor Build Tutorial! (Pics included!)

New update! I finally finished the construction of the torso piece, and I also completely finished the helmet as well as one of the weapons I will be holding. An Ancient Sangheili Curveblade. I’ve found that if I heat seal, then use a wood burner to engrave the details BEFORE putting the pieces...

Hello Spartans! Long time no see, but I have returned. Not sure if I should continue this thread or create a new one. But I’ll leave that up to the mods to let me know :). Due to the current circumstances with COVID-19 I have been blessed with free time to finish this build I have been...

    Cosplay Tips

Hey jsg6! Welcome to the 405th first off, second like everyone above me mentioned there are tooooons of different resources out there for you to read. If I may throw in my 2 cents, I personally use 3/8 inch thick foam for the base and for smaller parts or details I use either 6mm or 2mm craft...

Helioskrill Foam Armor Build Tutorial! (Pics included!)

Oh wow Radd! Thanks so much for that link. I am definitely going to order and try out one of those once I get closer to finishing my visor. :D Yes I did! I actually got some tall spaghetti O's cans and put them under the legs of the table. It's a decent temporary fix, but it works. No more...

Helioskrill Foam Armor Build Tutorial! (Pics included!)

Update #3: Hello everyone! I'm back with another update! In the past couple of days I decided to try out building another more simple piece. The gauntlets. This is because I also tried out a new scaling and unfolding technique. What I discovered with the foam I am using, is that since it is...

Haha thanks Radd! Yeah I definitely like the unique look and lore to the Helioskrill armor. And by that pun I'm guessing you've also been playing Pokemon Go? :D Wow thanks for the link Sierra! Your advice really helps out a lot. I was looking up vacuum forming but it seemed too expensive and...

    Pepakura isnt cooperating?

It's simple to get around that. When you switch the setting to letter size, just move around the pieces to make sure none are overlapping each other. Then, if some are overlapping pages, just tick the box that says print alignment marks. You'll see it on the same screen as the page size...

Noobs first build(s) all WIP H3 MKVI Dead Eye & more

I'd go with barge, and keep the hot glue for repairs or pieces that have weird angles or positions. I found it online on Amazon for like $30 for the can. Comes with a brush included. It's really simple and EvilTedSmith does a really good tutorial on using it. Makes your seams so much cleaner...

Helioskrill Foam Armor Build Tutorial! (Pics included!)

Thanks Sierra! Yeah I see what you mean about the hot glue giving some wiggle room. I plan on using it for those pieces that I need to bend or flex into weird positions, but as far as the angles I try to cut everything as clean as I can from the start so the proportions are right. If you...

Just wanted to stop by and say great foam work! I am also working on a project and love to see others working on ones as well, it helps motivate me. All of your pieces are looking really great so far! Are you planning on heat sealing or sealing with pva glue/water mix before the plasti-dip...
