    BTW - for weathering the best method is to use a Brillo pad, and lightly rub down the raised edges. Makes it very realistic.

    Depends, actually. A small array of neodym magnets would be pretty light and VERY strong.

    Smaller disc-shaped Neodynium magnets would work. VERY strong for their size. Best bet is to put a magnet or two in your armour, then add a strip of steel (or some other ferrous metal) to your replica weapon for the magnets to catch.

    Just to throw something in here: I used to work on boats a lot, sailboats mainly. Go the pepakura-resin-fiberglass method. Resin and fiberglass are MUCH easier to apply than body filler. Really.

    For cardstock I'm using printable A4 200gsm card - from what I can work out that's about equal to 80-100lb cardstock. Seems stiff enough to resin up. Ideally, however, I'd like to make a Pepakura base for the weapons, resin it up and smooth it out, then make a mould of it and fit the externals...

    Though a clay original is obviously the best - would it be ok to use a Pepakura-based Resin'd and FBG'd original? Would the silicone adhere to it?
