Flyerfye's Foam Reach MK V Custom (as always, pic heavy)

Thanks! Hopefully I'll continue to get better at foam as I go through this suit (and then get sick of looking at my old work and redo it...) Supposedly they're both technically EVA foam! I've seen the squishy version before actually, used in cushioning mats for camping, just didn't know it was...

Flyerfye's Foam Reach MK V Custom (as always, pic heavy)

Sorry for the double post, but it's a new day! I have good news and bad news; Good news first: I got my giant roll of foam! It's pretty giant. Bad news: It's, uh, not gonna work as well as I thought it was. It looks to be a different composition from the foam mats, it's a lot less dense...

Flyerfye's Foam Reach MK V Custom (as always, pic heavy)

Thanks! Got the other gauntlet cut out and assembled, it's amazing how much better you can get at something just doing it twice instead of once! A lot less glue everywhere. Drew (and messed up) a few lines for detailing work on the left gauntlet, not sure what all I'm doing about that yet...

Flyerfye's Foam Reach MK V Custom (as always, pic heavy)

Hey folks! Been a while! Flyerfye back once again to work on the Reach Mark V suit I've been planning to build for LITERALLY OVER THREE YEARS. And in all that time I managed to not even build a single solitary hand plate! But time and progress march on, and after being prompted to bring out my...

Sepheus 13's Forging of a Mk V. (Foam)

Awesome work! This is one of the builds that's encouraging me to get off my butt and work on my MKV suit! :D Keep it up dude, can't wait to see the full suit version of this! If I may give one (time consuming) recommendation, is make those shoulder pieces bigger! Even if you have to pad out...

    Project: 002D - DARE helmet

Details are looking real nice so far! Any thoughts on whether or not DARE might be an acronym for something?

Flyerfye's Sean Bradley ODST kit build

I decided to condense my work into fewer posts, less work for me than trying to post every day. So this'll be a big one! The armor was looking way too shiny and new, so I started off by putting a matte clearcoat on it to cut the shine, and then I dirtied up the pieces with a bit of thinned...

On the other hand, you're a lucky guy if your wife is into this stuff too. :P Hope to see more of your work soon!

Flyerfye's Sean Bradley ODST kit build

Thanks Thorn, hopefully I'll have something interesting for you all pretty soon. Anyway, nothing impressive today, just a lot of spray paint and paint fumes (I was wearing a respirator the whole time, but it still got to me a little). I got about 2/3rds of the armor painted up with my nice...

    Plasti dip

I think this is a perfectly legitimate question. And what's wrong with question threads, other than that they should be asked in the question thread stickies? This is far enough off from any of the sticky subjects that I'm fairly confident it's not "wrong" to ask, and it's not something you...

In my opinion, if you're not trying to go for crazy accurate, what really sells the M6S is the huge compensator on the front. What I always suggest on these is to take a pep build of the gun, just build the front part, and attach it to whatever pistol you choose. Which also has the added effect...

Looking good so far! The helmet might kick you in the butt at first, but once you've succeeded at it, pretty much everything else pep will be easy breezy for you. But make sure you do your sizing carefully beforehand, it's a real pain to have to make multiple helmets!

Thorssoli's Isaac Clarke Engineering Rig from Dead Space 2

Thorssoli, you've done it again. Fantastic work, and I love how you've used the EL tape. Speaking of the EL tape connections, I saw what I thought was a cool product a while back, called Wire Glue. They describe it as conductive glue for use in place of solder in "low voltage" applications. I...

Flyerfye's Sean Bradley ODST kit build

Hey there 405th, I've had a loooong hiatus, and a lot of you probably hadn't even joined the forums when I made my last post, but I've loved looking through all the AMAZING work you people have been putting out while I've been gone. But I'm back, even if just for a little bit, to do a...

Looks like a good start to me. The reason I use hot glue is because when that kind of problem happens, you can just stick the hot part of the glue gun on it and re-melt that stuff, and just re-stick it together. I'd recommend giving that a try before switching techniques entirely.
