WIP: Half Life, Gordon Freeman's HEV Suit

Hey, after a long time, I finally got to resume working on the costume. Not much, but enough progress to show here. I could gather a little experience when I shaped my crowbar, but I still have difficulties with getting my armor pieces in shape. So far, the upper arms looks... ok. You...

WIP: Half Life, Gordon Freeman's crowbar using fiberglass putty

hi again, .... aaand we're done. Here are some final pictures. I hope you like it! The piece weighs about one and a half pounds (23oz), so that is quite light, but, Cloviz, I agree, it is still very hard...

WIP: Half Life, Gordon Freeman's crowbar using fiberglass putty

hey, finally I was able to make some real progress! After countless rounds of bondoing and sanding , this is the piece ready to be primed, It is still not perfectly shaped, but I am quite happy with it. And now: the first silver coat: Tactonyx has advised me to use rub'n buff...

Idea I had about fiber glass resin

hi, apart from having polyester resin lying around next to food, I like the idea. It is correct that the resin hardens based on a chemical reaction, which means that its temperature (before hardening) relates to the reaction speed: A decrease of ten degrees celsius cuts reaction time in half...

    PDF Pepakura

hi, actually, you do not need the full designer. Just install pdfcreator on windows. It installs itself as one of your printers (so it's going to be listed among your actual printers), but saves everything you print on it as a pdf. greetings

WIP: Half Life, Gordon Freeman's HEV Suit

thanks, NeoKeth! I've tried most of the pieces and they seem to fit me without rescaling, so I have no experience with rescaling, but I've seen numerous threads for this. As fo rthe resin, I used regular polyester resin, so nothing special. Although, both the peps and the resin have that orange...

I like the pep so far.... and the enrgy drink in the background :-)

    An unusual CQB build

Hi, I kinda like the idea to go vice versa - instead of fitting the armor parts, you adapt your body. So good luck on this one! However, be aware of some problems you might run into. First it like doubles the complexity and maybe costs of your endeavour. Might be too much for a first project...

WIP: Half Life, Gordon Freeman's HEV Suit

thanks BlueSol and JUSTINIAN! Marneon, I found the files over at the rpf in a similar yet unfinished thread. You might want to try the link http://www.mediafire.com/?o3t5jmyjmgn But be aware that the shank (is that correct?) pieces have no numbering on their tabs (the thing you're supposed...

WIP: Half Life, Gordon Freeman's HEV Suit

Hey, I'd like to share my progress on the Hazardous Environment Suit which I've started. It is my first armor project, so I am gonna take my time on it :-) . Most parts are now pepped and resined, and seem to fit me well without the need to rescale it (I'm a skinny scientist myself, so that...

WIP: Half Life, Gordon Freeman's crowbar using fiberglass putty

... didn't really managed to continue on it. Just did a little artwork out of boredom to see how it't supposed to look like... :cool

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

Hi EyeofSauron, I don't know if this helps, but resin ("Polyesterharz") should be available in some hardware shops like "Baumax". There is some resin available at http://www.gerstaecker.at, but avoid that since it is way too expensive! Shouldn't cost more than 15 Euro per kilogram, otherwise...
