I believe that the Smooth-on 300 is a type of easily applied liquid-to-solid plastic, similar to resin in it s reinforcing effects. It allows you to simply pour the mixture into the helmet and make a mold("copy") by simply swishing the mixture around inside the helmet until it becomes solid...

That helmet is very pretty. Did you cut out the faceplate after you used the smooth-on. Has the paper been sanded away, or is that helmet already bondoed and sanded?

So it can be used as normal resin? For example, I could use this stuff on both the inside and outside of a piece to strengthen it? how does paper react to it?

What exactly is this stuff? Is it like normal Resin?

That armor is done by a studio in Cali i think. I was told by a third party that the studio had recieved a cease and desist letter from Betheseda, even though I asked for a price quote and recieved an answer (quite a heavy answer). In any case the armor is beautiful, but the helmet... not so...

I saw that some people were experimenting with muslin cloth. I am looking for an alternative to fiber glass, and muslin sounds like it might be worthwhile to look into. IS the type used for resin reinforcement the same type you can buy at JoAnns fabric store? Or is it a special kind?
