    "Help!" for: Papercraft or Pepakura

Jason, I tried using a perforation tool for a few sheets but it was much more difficult to get precise scoring than a pen. I even used some small rollers from a pastry chef's tool kit for embossing/scoring marzipan. That one was a little better for the intricate details, but overall a pen holds...

When I'm not building Iron Man, I build my space observatory.

Some very fine craftsmanship there, Sand. Looks every bit as high grade as the ones you'd see research staff using! What was your neighbors' reaction?

Imperius: Archangel of Valor Build Log

Are you using Pepakura at all, or just eyeballing it? Solid start for sure. I took at look at your Solarion build, the thing is down right gorgeous! The wooden handle is an incredible touch to it, and the paint job makes it look much more realistic.

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

I'd avoid splitting it if possible as the chances of them not matching up well is very high. For my AR I did a few coats of resin on the exterior, then slush cast it with Rondo, and filled it with Foam. It's not iron clad like a fiberglass piece is, but once you jet it with expanding foam it'll...

    Silent Hill. Pyramid Head

Looking good. I've been considering making a Pyramid Head costume, and now I may have to! I'm gonna use it for when it's super foggy in my area (right on the coast) and walk through town to see if anyone freaks out. Complete with the sword of course. I'd have to attach a small piece of aluminum...

    Halex's MkVI Build (WIP)

Solid build so far. Your skills at using sliced files are great, the pieces themselves are immaculate! Hopefully the precision is just as visible when you paint it! That blue on the hand plates is gorgeous! Have you considered doing the three negative-circles in it, and possibly the indented...

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

If you're using 110lb Cardstock, it can withstand the resin reinforcement as long as you're not forceful, and doesn't soak the thing in resin all at once. Just be sure to lightly brush the resin on in segments, so the dry parts can support the wet parts to resist it becoming deformed. Then, once...

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

The resin was fine, It's just the expansion generated by the heat proved to be a bit much. I know because the expansion was uniform, and when I punched a hole in my pour gap, it was pressurized. I experimented on the magazine, and the same thing happened. I just tape it up tight, slush it...

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

Be careful that you don't tape it back up too securely! If it's completely sealed when the Rondo starts to cure it'll heat up causing the air to expand and distort your model outwards. I had that happen with an Assault Rifle I did, the stock swelled about 1/4 inch on each side.

Damn - resizing mistake and help with rectifying please..

While it is possible that you can ignore it, what may end up happening is that your shoulder pieces don't fit well with it hanging wide on your shoulders. For one of mine during the pep stage I removed about an inch wide strip down the center of it, and down the back. That let it fit a bit...

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

Whenever my piece isn't curing I just set my halogen heat lamp on it for a bit (10-90 minutes) from about a foot back. It cures it, and I've yet to set one on fire (12inch minimum distance). It's cured pieces that I flat out forgot to add the MKEP to. You can also use a heatgun/blow dryer but...

    Pepakura Requests

Would anyone here be interested in unfolding a Tallgeese.pdo? I found a .skp of it on google, converted it to a 3ds then into a pdo. I tried to unfold it, but even the auto unfold came out better than my attempt. There are only two tallgeeses out that I know of, one is an SD, and the other is...

"Help!" for: Fiberglassing, Resin, & Bondo

It would be a good idea to wear gloves, some Nitrile (surgical) gloves would suffice. Bondo is is just Resin with a filler, and resin is a toxic chemical, so it would be a very good idea to avoid contact with your skin. The dangers of it aren't as severe as breathing it, but any resin that your...

    Pepakura Requests

I'm not sure if this would be the place for it, but would I be able to get a hand on unfolding a model? It's the Tallgeese from gundam wing, and I already turned it into a .pdo but it needs to be unfolded. I got the model from google sketchup and it seems to be open source, so I don't believe...
