Whoooo buddy! Starting to look pretty cool.
Once I get ALL of the foam pieces rough cut, it'll be time to bust out the palm sander and get to smoothing, beveling, and gluing on this and the neck seal.
No problem! There's no reason to keep it to myself, cosplay and prop building to me is about sharing knowledge and ideas to continue to improve the quality of everyone's work - I can't imagine not wanting to see how other people can improve upon my own techniques.
Halo 3: ODST's armor has been...
No problem! I try to release what I can - though there's a couple pep pieces I have yet to show that I may not be able to release. One is a modification of the JTM shin file, which I feel is the most accurate, with the exception of the knee being separated - so I attached it as accurately as I...
Here you go. Sorry that it's kinda messy, I tend to just slap stuff together when I'm in a hurry to try out a new idea. The torso should use the ODST_body_diffuse texture and the shoulder part should use the shoulderoutline texture. Let me know if anything doesn't work, I'll try my best to...
Another very small update, but I started work on the stomach pieces. This one will be a ton of work, but if I pull it off it'll look pretty good IMO.
Also, if anyone wants these "template" pep files and textures, I can throw them up for download at some point.
Decided to take a break from the shoulder to work on the neck seal (my fingers hurt from hand stitching that rubber! Haha). Here's where I'm at so far.
Basically the same process as usual for me, use the in-game model as a pepakura template. This time I just took the faces that I needed and...
Another quick update: got the last piece glued down, just have to stitch it and then the left arm is finished. This is the first time I've had a good idea of how it'll look.
It'll be covered by the shoulder armor, so a lot of the crappy cut edges and stuff won't matter a ton, but I still want...
I know it's been a while, but I promise I've been making some sort of progress. I decided to try using the rubber I have for now, at least as practice. I'll probably do a "V2" down the line with silicone, but I figured if I keep waiting I'll never get anything done. It's slow going with no...
Started practicing my hand stitching on the SBR rubber today. It's pretty hard stuff, I may order some silicone anyway next paycheck, but a cheap set of leather chisels has helped a ton. The SBR will make good practice anyway.
Yeah, I know I've seen some makeup cases with that half-moon kind of shape, but unless I can find one exactly the right shape and texture, I'll probably just pull the in-game model and turn it into a sewing template in Pepakura Designer, then use some faux leather or marine vinyl to make the bag...
I saw that when I was digging around on Google! I'm hoping my undersuit turns out that good, though I'll probably use foam for my "abs" as I don't have a sewing machine. And yeah, I was also thinking of doing the buttplate as a fanny pack of sorts, though I think that may actually be the...
