We dont have VHT Nightshades here in the UK (and importing it costs a bomb) so getting some tint which actually worked well was a nightmare. In the end I tried 2-3 different tint sprays, dying with Rit fabric dye, as well as using car window tint film over my PETG before forming but nothing...

If you check his Flickr account you can see he's posted a few more pics, mostly the soldering. It also looks like hes just finished working on a awesome Big Daddy costume for DragonCon so I imagine most of his free time has been taken up with that.

Sorry to hijack this thread a bit, but I finished my Guy Manuel helmet today. Its a pep/fiberglass/bondo build. Its no way near as good or accurate as DerKrakens but im quite happy with the outcome as its my first ever attempt at using pep, fiberglass and bondo. Heres a video:

The tint has come out really well. Did you have any problems getting an even coverage or is it quite forgiving? Also did you sand the visor down after tinting? Ive seen one tutorial which recommends wet sanding with 2000 paper.

There is a motorcycle under suit which might do the job for £19.99 + £2.95 P+P on ebay. It might to the trick http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HEIN-GERICKE-MENS-BLACK-ALL-IN-ONE-WATERPROOF-SUIT-SM_W0QQitemZ370250410423QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMen_s_Clothes?hash=item5634a4e9b7&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 It would...

Living In Uk Need Cheap Under Armour And Boots

I used CFS ( http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/ ) for my resin and fibreglass supplies when I built my daft punk helmet. I managed to get a 5kg pack of polyester resin, loads of chopped strand matting AND all the tools/brushes I needed AND my protective gear for just under £50. Give them a call if...

Good progress, the visors look a lot clearer than mine. How are you planning on tinting them?

Your visor buck looks excellent, how did you make it? Have you thought of trying to form the PETG yourself with a homemade vac-former? I did it last weekend and the results were surprisingly good.

I dont think this would be suitable. The original discovery era helmet uses a massive RGY matrix to display images and animations: Besides, you wouldnt be able to see anything with it on.

I think ive just answered my question in regards to sanding the curved surface. Before I was using a normal sanding block, Ive just switched to a sponge wrapped in sandpaper and its having a much better effect.

How do you keep the 3 parts together when you're rotocasting? Final question... Have you got any tips for sanding the curved surface? Im sanding my visor at the moment but I keep getting flat areas. I just cant seem to get a nice curve all the way around. There seems to be a real lack of...

I see, you have to forgive me, i'm completely new to molding and ive only watched a few of the videos on youtube which explain two part molding of small items. So it goes like this: Model (in this case the GM helmet) > Covered in cilicone RTV > Covered in 3 part mother mold (I guess this is...

Like Tool, im also a bit confused about the molding process. Why cant I see any seams in the final pull if you're using 3 parts for the mother.
