here's a link to my post.... i spent under $100, didn't use fiberglass or clay... didn't turn out like the more professionally done armor that you can find on this site (mad props to the experts!!!) but it was not bad for the time and effort...
here's one of the promised pics..... now this rev of the armor did benefit from a second night of construction.... i was not happy with the thighs and crotch before, so (thanks to slyfo's pep models!!!) i made replacements for the originals... so my armor did technically take two nights now and...
well... it was pride with my family, the wife and daughters issued the dare. coworkers bet money, but the proceeds go to our sunshine office fund... i'm posting pics tonight after festivities...
i can't stop thinking about how to tweak the process and get some better results. unfortunately...
you can do a couple of things....
for the armor you can spray it with plastidip spray paint (available at home depot/lowes, and get the black not red)
for the visor, i used a cut out from a 3L soda bottle and then used spray adhesive to affix gold tissue paper i got from the dollar store...
if you don't want to resin/fiberglass and you're up for some non-traditional armor making, here's my post....

and yes it was one day's work.... much to the dismay/anger/curiosity/pity of my wife and daughters....
i dad to go with full thigh pieces, like the ones in slyfo's pep package... i had the same problem and basically chucked my thigh pieces before i went mad...
thanks for the props. .. .. yep, one day. and i upgraded the visor, made new thighs and cod piece (aka crotch/lower torso) last night... used slyfo's thighs and crotch, since the ones on the pep download were a little lacking... the visor got upgraded by using a 3 liter soda bottle cut out...
