    Lancer's Recon Build

Thanks man. I use this stuff called DAS clay. Seems to be some sort of foreign make, but is readily accesible at most craft stores. Or ones I have visited anyway (Michael's, AC Moore, etc.) As far as cutting out the pieces, I mainly use sharp haircutting scissors (Mom loves me for this heh)...

    details, details

Like gaj2714 said: First resin (the outside), then fiberglass the inside. This is what gives your armor structure. After that, bondo for the details, primer, paint, and viola! Pictures would be a good visual reference for us to be able to give you any type of advice. Also, before you use any of...

    Lancer's Recon Build

UPDATE: Alright, so this experimentation with the clay seems to be going really well. It is very easy to work with, and for all intents and purposes, should work very well for molding. I know that I am not the only one to discover this method to adding general shape / detail to armor pieces, but...

MY FULL JORGE SUIT!!! WIP (will be pic heavy)

Wow. Impressive work so far! Very clean folds, and barely any warpage after resining. Awesome job man. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

    Complete! Noble Six!

Now that's pretty cool. I'm in the process of doing a recon helmet, and a motorcycle visor seemed to work pretty nicely for me. Just alot of shaping in the oven, and I'm not 100% happy with the visor color (It's more of a lighter gold than a deep gold like yours), but it still looks pretty good...

    Lancer's Recon Build

MontrealDropShockTrooper: Thank you for the kind words. On this one, I used the smoothed version, and I just used the stock size when I printed it, and it seems to fit me pretty well. Just as a reference, I am 5'11" 165lbs. You can find plenty of reference pictures online. The cutting took a...

Looks good! Just out of curiousity, what did you use for the visor, and how did you install it?

    need Halo Reach Emile Refernces

You don't need to file share your pictures in order to be able to see them. After you save the picture, and once you are back in the main menu> hit start> go to file browser> local files> screenshots... And viola! Find your pictures. Or there is always google :D

    Lancer's Recon Build

Alright, I know it's been awhile since I last updated, but here is some more progress. I've finished most of the bondo on the front of the helmet (still a few touch ups needed here and there), seated, shaped, and installed the visor, and trimmed up all the details around it. I'm currently...

    Sliced armor

Oh definitely man. I mean don't get me wrong. Drywall compound is awesome for sanding and shaping, I'm just thinking that will all the flexing that the armor will do with your movements, that you may have chunks of your detailing falling off with every turn. :eek

    Sliced armor

Drywall compound? That material becomes fairly brittle when it dries. Great for walls, not so much for moving parts.

    Lancer's Recon Build

Update: In what spare time I do have, I have managed to mostly bondo the top half of the helmet. I still need to make a few adjustments to some high, and low points, and also add the skull details, but at least you get an idea of how the project is progressing for now. I only added the paint to...
