How far do we want graphics to advance?

Video games will keep becoming more graphically intensive until it is no longer possible to tell the difference between a game and real life. At that point in time, I predict that there will be a shift away from super-realistic games to games like Team Fortress 2 with dedicated and unique art...

I was featured on Halo Waypoint!

My EOD helmet (which is about 2 years old now) was featured on the front page of Halo Waypoint! http://halo.xbox.com/en-us http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/news/blog/wearable-eod-helmet/13386 And my website: http://slukaj.wordpress.com/2009/10/18/eod/

Safety notice to anyone wanting to use pouring resins/plastics/foams!

Don't f*** up the lids! I doubt anyone would have any real problem with this, but it's definitely a concern.

On the battlefield of chess, how would the UNSC and Covenant starships match up?

As probably already stated, unless a UNSC fleet outnumbered a Covenant fleet 3:1, the Covenant would always win.

    REACH: wheres Jun?

Judging by what happens in First Strike, I'd say he's probably dead.

    Reach Build

Privateer, I don't know if you considered this, but what about using traditional polyurethane resin? I doubt it'll melt the foam (would actually defeat the purpose of the foam), and if it works, you get a nice, sealed surface as well as added durability of the suit.

Gen-Con Indy (largest convention in the world!)

I wonder if we can sneak into the event on the basis that we're 405th members, too. Hmm...:confused

    Change In Times...

That's a fair and valid point. I will defend the 405th moderators to death if I had to: despite disagreements in the past regarding a select issue, they remain my favorite group of moderators out there. I started my forum life on the Black Mesa forums, and the moderators there were awful. Think...

    Change In Times...

Way back when, the 405th was almost exclusively a Halo-dedicated costuming group. Heck, we were originally called Mjolnir Armor, and we were a dedicated group, much the 501st. But now we've shifted to a new era in prop focus: we work mainly on all things video game related, be it Cog, Iron...

What Did The Forums Used To Look Like?

Ignore the smartass. Way back in the day (2 years, I think?), the forum was pretty bland. I don't have a picture, but I'll try to describe it. White backdrop, blue header image with the old UNSC Eagle Logo we used to use, tan sub-box images, and blue text. I may be wrong, but that's...

    Wanted: Human Body Silhouettes

My god, why didn't I think of that! I've used the-blueprints.com before for other projects... I wonder why I never thought to check it. I considered that, problem is, I worry about hosing up the angles the shots were taken from. Plus I have a rather bizarre body shape, and I'm aiming to make...

    Wanted: Human Body Silhouettes

Due to my complete idiocy when it comes to drawing, I'm looking for a talented / skilled artists capable of drawing human silhouettes in full ranges of motion, much like Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man. (No, the Vitruvian man won't fill my needs for a silhoutte. Yes, I know he's naked.) I...

    Mechanized Armor

Servos are actually fairly simple. Apply power to turn them on, the power level changes the speed / direction. Now, when you're trying to make a series of servos (that are small enough to fit, and still powerful enough to be worth while) work in a complex system like a leg or an arm, then it...

    Mechanized Armor

Hey, thanks! My hobby != powered exoskeletons. You wanna know how hard it is to build a simple "kicking" foot? Really damn hard. Like, 3-weeks worth of planning before 10 weeks of construction hard. And thats when you AREN'T constrained by a 6-week schedule. Plus, there's programming...
