    first project, MK. VI armor

Looks like it's going well so far. One question: why are you making LD and HD versions of the same pieces? I'm sure it's great for practice but it just seems like a bit of a waste as far as time and resources.

    Tomb Raider pistols?

Actually I'm going as Indiana Jones. Figured we'd do the "archeologist couple" thing this year. Saving my chief suit for PAX East. I'm an Enforcer so I'm going to paint my armor red and wear the shirt while on duty. Should be fun.

    Tomb Raider pistols?

I'm well aware that just about everyone here is more interested in Halo-related armor-making, but I was hoping there might exist a pep file for Lara Croft's pistols. I'd like to make a pair to go with my girlfriend's halloween costume next month and figured the easiest way to craft them would be...

    Dvine Infektion's Wip Mk Vi

Thanks for the info. The shotgun, at least the pep file that I found, is pretty straightforward except for two parts (the barrel and hand-grip). They're too long to fit on a regular 8.5x11 so you've got to have a couple sheets of Legal handy.

    Dvine Infektion's Wip Mk Vi

Awesome job so far, looking forward to seeing the completed product. One question: which pep file did you use for the AR? I'm about to start on my weapon and and still up in the air on whether to do that AR or the shotty. Thanks and keep up the good work!

    Tips?

In my limited experience, be careful when applying the first coat of resin. The paper can warp pretty badly if you apply too much too quickly. I'd do a really light first coat, just enough to lock the shape in, without risking warping the helm. Good luck!

    Sponguard's Mk-Vi Wip

UPDATE: Got the chest fully glassed and resin'd. I applied two layers of resin before glassing so it's sturdy as hell now. Probably going to add one more once I smooth everything down. At some point in this whole process, the back shifted a bit so it's not symetrical anymore. Any ideas on...

    Sponguard's Mk-Vi Wip

Yeah I think I'm going to redo the handplates and HD the rest of what I haven't done yet. In the long run, it beats trying to bondo in details later on. Probably won't get to that for a while though. Moving back to school at the end of the week so I'm focusing on getting the chest completely...

    How Did This Happen

Similar thing happened to me when I was resining my chest piece. Fortunately, it only happened to one small piece and I was able to save it. I think the problem comes from the glue not properly adhering to the paper. If the paper gets over-saturated with resin, it gets really soggy and can...

    Sponguard's Mk-Vi Wip

Everything fits great. I've been scaling "on-the-fly", so it's all come together pretty well, if not with a little trial-and-error. Need to go buy another ream or two of card stock to finish the job.

    Sponguard's Mk-Vi Wip

I've been working on my first set for about a week now, so I guess a W.I.P. is in order. I used Flyingsquirrel's HD chest and Slyfo's "Fixed Halo All In One" pack for everything else, though I might switch over to more HD pieces as I get used to the pepping process. Right now, only the...

    Storming The Today Show

This would be epic. I can see the headlines now: The world media was stunned today as dozens of "Masters Chief" and "ODST's" appeared in the background of morning shows across the globe... I'm down for this... Well, I need to finish my armor first... but then I'm TOTALLY down.

    Dremel 290-01

I can't upload any pics from here but: Here's a link to an ebay auction of one. The only thing I'm wary of (aside from it's power) is whether or not it can fit other tips aside from the engraver it comes with (i.e. sanders, cutters, etc).

    Dremel 290-01

I've been shopping around for a new rotary tool and came accross the Dremel 290-01 a number of times. It's listed as an "engraver", running at 7,200 strokes per minute. It caught my eye, mainly, because of the price. Getting it for only $15 compared to other models at twice or three times the...
