    Fiberglassing: Foam vs Hair brushes

you also might want to consider price. i bought a box of the 2 inch old school hair brushes at harbor freight. it was a box of 30 for about $12.

What Do You Do While Pepping?

I listen to my wife watching Downton Abbey. It sounds a lot like the old radio programs my grandparents might have listened to when they were young. When everyone has gone to bed, I sit in silence. After all the noise of the day, and trust me there is A LOT if noise, its really relaxing.

A little tip for armor builders

I thought about something similar. my plan is to split the shins down the middle, like you have to do on the chest and use a latch system to reattach it together.

Question: Will I be satisfied with my end product?

I did my suit with all the hd files, but I started with some of the easier pieces , such as the boots or shins. They had bigger individual pieces that were easier to put together. That helped me get the practice that I needed to do the more intricate parts like the helmets. I made the mistake of...

    Vacuum forming sucks?

Here is a machine I found on youtube a few months ago. I don't know how expensive it would be to build, but could also form bigger parts. I plan on building this one once I have garage to store it in. my plan is to at least do the visor for my mark VI with it.

    Mjolnir MK VI painting

Also when you go back to repaint don't try and get it covered with one coat of paint try two or three coats with several minutes between coats. It will cover that way. When you shave your runs and drips and then sand make sure you get them all the way out. If you don't then when you repaint it...

    BuzzBee Plasma Blasters still around?

I've looked all around for one of those as well with no luck. I've decided to go with a Nerf Rayven for my AR, then adding everything up front. If you look at the back of the Rayven it looks very similar to the back of the AR. I will probably do everything in foam and use pvc pipe to extend the...

First build WIP - Halo 4 Recon Helmet / Halo 4 Mark VI Armor

I've not gotten to the paint stage on my armor yet, but I paint cars for a living. The key is patience, treat it as a marathon, not a sprint. give everything plenty of time to dry.

Just Realized That My Build Was Useless...

I agree with everyone else. Use it as a learning experience. The first helmet I made was a rogue and it turned out terrible. It warped, but I still worked it with bondo to try and fix it. It never really came around, but I learned a lot of what not to do.

    Pepakura: Resin question

The key I've found to working with mat is smaller pieces are better. its easier to get them in the smaller place like the inside of the helmet. larger mat pieces don't generally bend around recessed areas as well and can cause air to get trapped between the card stock and the mat.

My first attempt at Mk VI armor!

Since you have moved onto rondoing the inside instead of glassing the inside this maybe a moot point, but if you want to give glassing a retry for weight concerns try resining the inside and then laying the glass on top and then laying another layer of resin on top of the the mat. I work with...

How to get a clean looking glue job!?!?

I use "Aleene's Original Tacky Glue" you can find it in the craft section at Wal-mart. It sets fairly quickly, within a minute or so. I bought the big 8 oz bottle and used about 3 oz to do a rouge helm, two mark vi forearms and one shoulder. I just dob some out on a newspaper, then use a...
