Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

I have not forgotten about this project. I will be starting it back up here shortly. Sorry, no updates.

    sticky tape

I use tape with great success. Search for my thread, "Progress Build:...." on my Iron Man stuff. I have zero issues using tape, but I do use epoxy rather than conventional poly resin. I've posted before on here, there are many benefits to going with tape. * Tape is much easier to work with...

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

no real updates. I painted the shoulder plates gold and cut the chest brace in half in order for it to be worn. I've also finished resining the chest plate. I haven't worked on it much tho, it's been cold here (california cold, not REALLY cold) and my sleep schedule is all messed up right...

FINALLY - Movie Accurate WAR MACHINE and IRON MAN Helmets

right. SOME polyester resins MIGHT do that. If you use epoxy similar to what I use, you will 100% not run into that problem. Not only that, you can tape on both sides because the tape will come off the surface very easily once the inside hardens.

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

just a quick update: Here are the shoulder plates and the chest brace. They have been epoxied and just need some minor sanding on the edges before priming and painting. I removed the lower portion of the brace since I felt the pieces were unnecessary. In theory, I could add them...

wow, that looks great! which helmet model is that? that's not the HD iron man, right? Does the face plate come off?

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

I'm not smoothing the outside yet. My goal is to complete the suit as is (polygonal look) first, and then start smoothing. Sanding can take a really long time, I thought this would be the best way to do it for me so that I wouldn't lose interest in the project and keep progress moving forward...

How to size War Machine and Iron Man pep files

For my iron man build, I have been using scale factor "24.5" and it's been working great. I'm 5'8" avg. build, 170 lbs.

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

No new update, just wondering whoever reads this: do you know where I can download the PEP's for war machine? I'm going to continue with iron man, but my friend wants to do war machine for himself.

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

OK, update! I painted the shoulder bell: I also finished the fingers and placed them on a thin glove I bought at SportsAuthority (a sports equipment store). The gloves are meant for warmth, but they are very thin. $15. I only (hot) glued the fingertips on. I figured...

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

I finished epoxyin most of the shoulder bell, and I also sanded the fingers/palm pieces. I should have an update soon on that.

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

I'm not really sure what you mean by your question. I just put the bicep on and just bolted the elbow piece on where I thought it should go. And then the same for the forearm piece. Also, since I didn't mention earlier, the wrist piece is not attached to the forearm, so that gives me a tiny...

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

Thanks! I just completed epoxy'ing the inner shoulder bell piece, the fingers, and the upper and lower palm pieces today. I'm not exactly sure on what type of glove I'm going to place the fingers on. Also, I finished pepping the inner Mark VI brace. That one may take a little bit to epoxy tho.

Progress Build: My IRON MAN helmets (and WAR MACHINE) and armor

I'm able to bend the elbow at over 90* and spin my wrist within the wrist piece enough to keep MOST of my natural movement, but overall it does limit movement somewhat. But definately wearable.
