Hey yall long time with no updates but im starting up work again!
Im back on campus and have moved things onto one of our makerspaces. Im working on finishing up the chest armor rn, but here is some of the armor on the stand.
Small update, I've applied the base coat of gunmetal gray to the chestpieces, and will do the full white gray and orange paint job before joining all the pieces together.
Finished the base coats of paint today! The back and some minor details still need to be painted and attached. Now for weathering and decals!
The visor is temporary, and is haphazardly tapped in here.
You can drop it down to 5% for future prints, usually that's all that is needed for infill. If you're worried about strength, infill actually doesn't contribute as much as outer layers.
Very nice. What did you do for the decals? Waterslide? I need to find what I will use.
Also, dangggg thats alot of infil. What percent are you printing at?
I worked on combining a bunch of the chest pieces today in hopes to get closer to sanding out the final seams and to start painting!

I thought I should share a very cool tool I've come across that really helps with getting rid of layer lines.
It's called a card scraper/cabinet scraper. I've never heard of this before, and it does a fantastic job of carving away layer lines!
This is with one pass of using the card scraper...
