I liked the first Karen travis novel but quickly started to hate them due to how much Halsey hatred. if you want a "side story" I would suggest The Cole Protocol. after the original trilogy it is my favorite novel, followed closely by Ghosts of Onyx.

as awesome as it looks, this is not the ODST recon armor, ODST recon armor has no ab plates, base shoulder padding (not the more recognizable ones you have) and a specialized ballistic pack, and the Recon style helmet. Still this looks damned badass for Desert ops ODST.
