    Ebay Scrap Leather

Ebay sells scrap leather for pretty cheap. They are usually about the size of a half sheet of paper, and they can be cut and punched pretty easily. You'll want to get some 5-7oz kind, as it's thicker and would look better for undersuit detail. I plan on using this for the detail on the back...

    Crazy molding idea

A couple years ago, the first time I tried to do some molding for Master Chief, I created a hand armour peice and cast a mold out of plaster of paris. Then, I tried to fill the mold uniformly with hot glue. It worked, kind of. The problem was that the glue would dry before I had time to do...

    Folded and Resined

@Flying Squirl: Hey, thanks for the comment! You did a really nice job with the pep file, it actually took me a couple days to get it all done, but it was well worth it. I think what I'm going to try to do is print out the pieces of the back of the helmet where it turns to black in the...

    Folded and Resined

Hey, I just got done with the first layer of resin around a "Flying Squirl" Pep helmet. I didn't really scale it, so I was wondering if I could have some input... The size tester seemed to fit fine, but the actual helmet was a bit smaller than I anticipated, I'm not sure if I can even get a...

    Clay Sanding Technique

Ooh, I get it, I didn't figure the oil based clay would actually be "sanded" off like that. I'd think my method would be good for a mold that would be seeing 5+ pulls, with extreme detail. Then again, I haven't gotten to the actual molding yet, so I might have a bit to learn.

    Clay Sanding Technique

So you didn't actually sand it, you just smashed it with the block with paper on it? If the clay isn't being removed, then the laws of the universe say that it will simply be displaced somewhere else, meaning that it will distort the edges of the piece, while making one face smooth. I think...

    Tutorial: Using Bondo for Detailing

I've had a couple years of auto-collision repair classes. I've got some tips for bondo-working: When you're mixing the bondo, make sure that you're using a smashing motion, not a stirring one. I usually pick up most of the bondo then smash it down like I'm applying it to the mixing board...
