What I did was fold a long piece of cardboard into an "L" shape and scotch taped it to the inside while i'm resining. It also makes a convenient handle.
But shouldn't motorcycle visors be rated high enough for a pebble to hit it at ~60 mph? A pebble is a couple of grams and even though it's not moving as fast as a BB it will have more force.

Home Depot and Lowes both have resin, respirators, fiberglass, pretty much everything you need to get started.
Also at Home Depot you can but Dremel clones that aren't as good but a lot cheaper. I think Black and decker makes one.
The resin that you put the fiberglass in hardens and it makes it very hard and stiff. The resin works like epoxy which as many people know, is very strong.
I'd try using sheet styrene for the supports. It's easy to cut and definitely strong enough for this.
