This. You barely need a drop. Smear it with a finger or something to get a nice, thin layer and stick. You get a little time to reposition and it sets very quickly so you're never waiting for it to dry.

I did Hugh Holder's ODST helmet out of 3mm Silly Winks foam from Hobby Lobby. It's a small addon to get to the Reach version. I can link you to that one if you're interested(you can see my thread for pictures of it). I also have found that IroniumCostuming's JFO is extremely foam friendly...

It couldn't be simpler on a P90. See the black wire that's shaped kind of like a bottle? That is connected to the trigger and runs back to the gearbox. When you pull the trigger, it pushes the wire backwards and causes the gearbox to fire. It's purely mechanical and probably different...

Plasti-Dip in an aerosol can is still cheaper than the Rustoleum stuff by about $2. Still haven't seen anything cheaper as far as rattle cans go.
