The quake was near the damaged reactors and created an estimated 50cm high tsunami.

It is indeed sad, however....a lot of leading scientists in the geological field warned of this. The main quake was so large, it was going to cause residual quakes, and large-scale aftershocks, for several months if not years. They're not nearly out of the woods yet.
