With C2E2 come and gone and gundams done and built, it's time to make some more props! And the next one on my list is the Railgun from Halo 4&5 because why not? But unlike my by build guide I made for my commando, it will not be in as in-depth as that one. This will just be a general overview build guide to help you along, like that guide I'll provide a template and what materials you'll need for the build. Initially I was going to use AndrewDFTs template for this but when I got it all printed out and taped together it seemed WAY to small so I ended up doing my normal way and used a detailed png for it. The overall length this will be 38" long and I'll be doing some slight alterations along the way to avoid some tiny cuts and make it a bit easier all together.

Got the three pieces for the main body cut out and glued together, and with the railgun having the floating barrels I have 2 1\2" wooden dowels in it supporting the upper and lower barrel. I forgot to snap a picture but they are sitting around the middle of it and holds them up pretty well but once everything is painted I'll add some clear plastic sheet for some extra support, now I just wait for magnets to continue.

I've been working pretty diligently on this and it's turning out pretty good. There's a little bit more to go and some cleaning up to do, also working on the foam thickness legend as I go along. Once it's all wrapped up I'll go over some of the little things I did to help this build along with details and general shapes.

So actually having time now and remembering that this thread exists, it's time to finish it out for y'all.

Here is the picture I used for it along with the foam thicknesses I used and layered together to get what I wanted. Like always feel free to edit and alter to fit your vision.

I tried to get as much some intricate detail as I could while still give it a basic shape. To cover up the layers of foam by the buttstock I just used some 2mm foam and used a dremel to round things out there and all around the prop to take care of some harsh angles. Did something similar with the groves on the buttstock, made sure they were straight across and carved them out with a 120grit sanding drum. After everything was all said and done I went over the sanded areas with a piece of 320grit to smooth it out a bit. Well that pretty much sums up this overview for the Railgun. Happy Building everyone!

AND SURPRISE! I MADE TWO! One for myself and my best friend Fissoffury so she can have another prop to carry around. She always does amazing work with her paint jobs so I can't wait to see what she has cooking.
