Well, I'm back again with another build. Unsure yet again if my Mjolnir armor will be ready for PAX east, I have revived a hiatus build to use as a backup. About a year ago I began construction of the 3 dimensional maneuver gear (omni-directional in the dub) when I began construction of the primary engine/motor for the piece of equipment. Here is what I had come up with (I was using a template I had found searching the web: https://www.tumblr.com/search/3d+gear+tutorial (the first post) )
Now just needs paint:
Now, back to the present, I revitilized my build and began working on the sheathes. These turned out to be MUCH more difficult than I imagined. First, I decided I would build them out of EVA foam, considering the strength and lightness of it since PAX and Anime Boston are both huge cons and will be quite a lot of walking.
(Instructions and templates for the sheathes found here: http://junkerscosplay.blogspot.com/2013/07/attack-on-titan-eren-jaeger-christa.html )
AND SO IT BEGAN!
DIRTY WORKSPACE IS DIRTY:
Decided to make the gas canisters out of coke cans considering the lightness and durability of aluminum:
Alas, I did not know how to properly cover up the ugly looking cut and taped cans. BUT ALAS, FATE HAD DELIVERED MY ANSWER FROM DECISIONS OF THE PAST (I was marathoning Stein's;Gate while building so I am in a Hoen Kyoma mentality right now.) The packaging from the foam proved to be a nice, slick, plastic material that was just the right length to work.
Next came the canister holders:
First injury (Total: four bandages, two fingers)
almost done!
"MY PAIN IS FAR GREATER THAN YOURS"

Finished! now I just need to add nobs to the canisters then paint the whole thing! On to the Swords....later.
