Hello Hello, Bonjour to all my fellow CDN friends

I have recently embarked myself on a MAJOR multi year build project for us

making a booth

I am on Phase 0 of many to build a 405th display for Con booth, I am hoping to have it ready for Fan expo 2028 if time and money permits.

Decor look im going for: UNSC Armory

Phase1
Price and acquire building materials

Phase2 (2026 to 2028)
initial build: 12FT by 8FT
storage behind a door for extra kit/cosplay

On wall:
Weapons Rack
arrows pointing to ''Vehicle bay'' ''Command Post'' ''Barracks''

405th Logo and CDN Reg. panted on walls

further down the line (if/when personal budget allow)

Phase3 (2028 to 2032)
Expand the booth to 15Ft by 12Ft or bigger

add TV mounts (2X 23 inch TVs), lights, Audio, ''alert'' beacons (red flashing)

This is a LONG TERM project (2 to 8 years)

Current phase
Phase 0.5
Drawing plans and start acquiring supplies

so far i have acquired: 8 sheets of

1/2 inch (11mm) 4x8 Plywood panels

500$

a dozen

2-inch x 6-inch x 10-ft studs

117$

Also an important thing to note, do NOT DM me to propose any financial help with this as I will always turn it down I do not need it. I am building this on my own dime on my own time as a personal project.

What an exciting and ambitious project!

May I make some suggestions for things to keep in mind: The Canadian Regiment's need is currently on the smaller side for physical booth walls, but I can you're like me in hoping for great expansion. Being able to change the scale of the booth is therefore vital. If you make it so it can be assembled in pieces it can be re-arranged and re-configured based on different available spaces that would be really helpful.

Take a look at the other booth builds that have been happening in the Midwest regiment. They're all modular and come apart in 4'x8' pieces. This way, they can even be combined with each other for extra large booths like at C2E2.

One other thing that's worth considering is the cost of electricity at cons. Most cons I've been to do NOT provide community exhibitors with complimentary electricity. Ask anyone that has to pay for it, it ain't cheap. Typically it starts at a few hundred dollars. I'm not saying to not include electronics, but be weary that there will be events that it's just not worth paying for electricity and you won't want blank TV's mounted on the wall.

Question for you; why 2x6's? Even 2x4's can feel like overkill for supporting just a thin wall. I've been fortunate to visit with some 501st folks while they dismantled their booth and they showed me that their construction was with 1x2s and thin plastic material instead of plywood. Just something to think about.

Keep in mind the height restrictions shows put on their exhibitors. Usually anything over 8' needs special permission. If you keep the height to the standard 8' of a sheet of plywood it'll make logistics way easier.

When you draw up some designs, consider using a program like Fusion to easily visualize and share you ideas. Having these booth layouts for Fan Ex really helped give me a sense of scale for the space we had. Forge is really useful too!

We talked about this already but I'll reiterate here for anyone else thinking of starting a project like this one. Keep in mind storage and transportation logistics. You are responsible for storing it, transporting it, funding it etc. Others can offer help, but if you want to bring it to cons then at the end of the day it will be your obligation.

I like your longer timeline. We absolutely don't want to put the cart before the horse. We currently do not have any plans to apply for booths in your area, and the booths we will do this year in Ontario are on the smaller side. When the community out that way grows and we can show we reliably have support for big booths we can get those later phases of the project under way.

As always I love your willingness to support the regiment! Continue helping the community grow and introducing people to Halo cosplay. I'm looking forward to the future of the Canadian Regiment.

1. It will be modular, able to reconfigure easily and add on at a later time if needed.

2. Wall mounts for TVs, removable if no electricity is available (bolted on to remove during transport)

3. Storage in my garage (will travel to MTL and TOR)

4. 2x4 and 2x6, with all I am planning on, weight adds up and I want it solid for years of use.

5. Transportation, I have bought a closed Trailer for my motorcycle and atv, big enough to fit everything with spare space.

6. Height restrictions, I am going for a Armory/Bunker feel
