Greatstuff has it's uses, but for carving, go with sheet insulation foam... The pink stuff at most building supply places ( Home Depot, lowes, etc) is excellent for carving & sculpting. It comes in 1/2" up to 4" thick sheets, usualy 2' X 8'... I glue several sheets together to make larger carving blocks, & using spray glue, or you can cut out your shapes & stack & glue them seperately...
