I'm glad I could contribute. One of the best things about the throat mike to me and my buddies is that it only transmits your voice, no ambient noise like wind noise or a motorcycle engine.
I know this has little to do with our Armor builds but it is nice if lets say you are in a noisy room and transmit a message to your buddy down the hall. only your voice gets sent.

Funny story I would like to relate about these firefox set ups. After we first got them a little over a year ago we were on a poker run and pulled into a gas station for fuel and some cold drinks. Two of my buddies stayed with the bikes to make sure they all got fueled up while my self and the rest of us went inside to get some sodas. Well here we are puttering around trying to get everyone there choice drink, chatting away over the radios with the ear buds in one ear when this lil kid comes up to me and sheepishly asks.

"Mr. are you with the secret service?" My buddies got a kick out of that and from then on we started calling our set ups secret service rigs lol.

My team uses 900 Mhz XRS radios. They're frequency hopping analog-digital-analog radios with performance similar to the commonly available GMRS units. They have 10 Million (yes, million) channels available, so COMSEC (communications security) is assured. They're compact and pretty durable, though we're still putting them through the ringer. Throat mics and ear buds are the way to go, btw. They'd probably also be useful for communication between a spotter and the person in the MC armor when in crowds and such.
